| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 1, 2007 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle via trade with Frumpy. Pours a clear cola caramel brown brew with a decent off-white head that leaves behind a good lacing and ring. Aroma of toasted dark malts, roasted hazelnuts, flowery hops and a touch of white chocolate. Taste is medium bodied, very light carbonation with flavors of dark roasted malt, a touch of caramel and chocolate. Finish is very dry with a lingering roasted nut and caramel aftertaste. The bitter finish is most excellent for a Brown Ale. Guerde (710), Welcome, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 29, 2007 (bottle, Thanks Skyview) Pours brown with a tan head. Toasty aroma with some nuttiness as well. Flavor is mainly roasty and nutty with some hops in the finish, quite good. OSLO (829), Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Updated: May 15, 2009[Bottle, thanks Skyview] Poured brown with a small tan head that left good lacing on the glass. Nice aroma, good taste--hops, roast and then bitter. Medium body. Long lingering roasted taste. Nice brown ale.
Re-rate: Bumping the score by .1, could go .2. A little acrid with the deeply roasted malt, but the finish is nice, and the chocolate comes out as it warms. Still a little conflicted about it, but will stick with my sentiments about it being a pretty good brown ale. JFURYCAT (792), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 17, 2007 Bottle from Kevin at NEPA case split event and wow I loved this one. I realize this one has some porter-like qualities but its about time flavorful browns were pumped out in the US. I love the floral bitterness which seems to meet well with a roasted malty caramel quality. There are some tones of nuts, wood, citrus and grass. An underrated beer IMHO. hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 7, 2007 A slightly above average brown ale that looks a bit nicer than most. Brown coloured with a barely tan head. Maybe a bit nuttier than some, but I’d liken it to a rogue hazelnut or something. Toasted malts and a slightly gritty body. kramer (2517), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a clear light brown body under a very large foamy beige head that faded very slowly. The aroma is dry nutty and toasted malt with a light grainy note. A little hint of coffee. A nice nutty maltiness starts things off fading to a lightly bitter hazlenut laced finish. Some fruitiness mid swallow. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with way too much fizzy carbonation, so much so that it annoyingly foamed up as it hit my tongue. Overall, a decent enough Brown Ale, but the mouthfeel was a real detracter. BDR (2169), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

Much more roasted malt apparent in this fresh bottle. Light chocolate flavor. Tart cherry flavor with dry roasted malt finish.
