Commercial Description:
An American brown ale brewed with loads of hops from start to finish (it’s hoppy and beautifully bitter). Amarillo hops in the boil provide a spicy citrusy bitterness. Saaz dry hops in the fermentor provide a refined flowery aroma. These hops are supported by a grain bill of seven varieties of malt.

Rich mahogany in colour, thin quickly dissipating beige coloured head, some patchy lacing. The aroma is malty - the chocolate and caramel jump out at you, earthy and toasty. The flavour is of dark chocolate, a bit chalky, lightly sweet, some mocha coffee, quite nutty. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long and roasty, good bitterness. A brown ale that makes you think. Good stuff.

355ml bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>JCB, thanks Jason.
Best before November 2006.

This brown ale pours a dark, cloudy amber color and settles a brown to dark brown hue with a hazy body. Average brown head forms, then dissipates and leaves no lacing behind. Aroma is of sweet malts and alcohol, with the particular scent of Crayola crayons. Initial taste is moderately sour, shifting to a moderately bitter finish with a long duration. Lively carbonation and a watery texture leave us feeling unfulfilled. Reviewed in November, 2006.

Clear brown appearance with a large foamy off-white head. Flavor is a solid brown sugar with a little bitterness in front. The finish is a little too sweet. A little too harsh, but if it wasn’t, it would be the perfect brown.

Bottle. Black pepper, coffee and chocolate aroma - moderate astringency. Dark brown with nice big bead. Astringent charcoal wood flavor with hints of coffee and dark chocolate. A bit like a mix of brown ale and stout - on the harsh side of the style.

Bottle and served in a standard pint glass; The mahogany hued beer was topped by a huge fluffy beige head that left very good lace. The aroma has notes of spicy and citric hops, walnut and caramel, some coffee-ish hints, and a dusty yeast ester. The flavor profile starts with a surprisingly high amount of bitterness along with a fair amount of acidity overtones. These seem to overwhelm the malt bill as I find it hard to get much caramel or nutty qualities from this beer. Only on the aftertaste do you find any chalky and nutty dryness from the malt or yeast. The mouth feel is a major issue as well, the same carbonation which produced the big head also detracts from the taste. Also has an astringent quality upon the finish which does not fit. What started promising ended in a train wreck. Burp!

thanks thanks Magjayran! ill start off by saying i think i got a bad(ish) bottle. everything seemed fine except for the ridiculous carbonation. the bottle opened with a big poof. the beer then pours clear dark copper with a massive uncontrollable head that takes up 2/3 of the glass. aroma hoppy. very hoppy. lots of pine. flavor bitter piney hops with hits of roasted nuts. bitter piney finish. way way way too carbonated. fizzy as hell. my mouth just filled up with foam as soon as the beer hit my tongue. a bit one dimensional but nice.....if it werent for the carbonation problem.

Dark brown pour topped by a foamy tan 1-finger head. Pine and citrus aroma with earthy, nutty notes. Coffee and nutty taste. Another fine brew from the folks at Duck Rabbit
