Bottle from Ross! Thanks! Nose of caramel, chocolate and a little coffee. Transparent dark brown with a large tan head; Bitter hop flavor with some coffee notes. Smells different than it tastes.

Bottled. Sweet malts in the aroma with some chocolate notes. It may be just my imagination, but as with all D.R. beers, I thought I detected a little lactose like they put in their milk stout. I didn’t get the hops that they claim, but I may try this one again- perhaps my bottle was old. This had a nice full body, especially for a brown ale. As for appearance, it was as pretty as they come. A nice lasting tan head nestled into the deep mahogany body.

Bottle thanks to Ross! Thanks! Pours deep brown liquid, topped with a one inch off white foam that lasts. Zero lace. Aromas of Czech hops with milk chocolate, roasted barley, almonds. Tastes like sweet nuts covered in milk chocolate. There is also soft, subtle spicy hop component, lasting through to the finish. Semi sweet nutty aftertaste. These guys seem to tackle styles that aren’t that easy to make, and do it well enough, that I’d buy it in stores if I could. Great! Thanks Ross!

12oz bottle from my brother-in-law’s beer of the month delivery! - Pours dark brown with a pretty nice tan head that stays well and laces the sides of the glass. Aromas of nuts, caramel, some chocolate, and some roasted malts. Flavor is al of the aroma plus some hops on the finish that were there for a reason. Decent bitter finish to a sweet malty nutbrown. Palate is creamy and pretty full bodied. Very nice for the style!

A transluscent, red hued brown color with a thick, well sustained, lacing, tan head. Aroma is toasty caramel, lots of green hop, a subtle winyness, milky, nutty, dark fruit aroma. Flavor is a very robust American brown ale. The aroma components are there but are overshadowed by a strong, drying cocoa, big green hop, bitterness, and a long acidity. This is a great, complex, brown ale, just a little to big for me.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Suttree. This poured a amber/brown color with a long lasting head. Aroma was a good mix of roasted malt with some subtle citrus hop notes. Smooth flavor, almost tasted like a porter but with a mild hop bite. Of the few brown ale’s I’ve had, this ranks high up there.

Poured brown with a tan head. Aroma was musty and earthy (mostly dirt). Flavor had a hint of chocolate, but was mostly earthy tasting. Again soil was the dominant flavor. Bland and dry.

Bottle, from trade with ross. Ok nose, sharp. Having a hard time calling it. Grassy, lime, minor chocolate. Clean dark orangy brown color, good head, faded slowly to a thin cover, good lacing. Bitter flavor, has bite. lime, grass maybe grapefruit rind? Seltzer water. Medium body, chalky creamy mouthfeel, bitterdry finish. Huh, unique. Wish I was describing this better. Thanks ross.
