Commercial Description:
An American brown ale brewed with loads of hops from start to finish (it’s hoppy and beautifully bitter). Amarillo hops in the boil provide a spicy citrusy bitterness. Saaz dry hops in the fermentor provide a refined flowery aroma. These hops are supported by a grain bill of seven varieties of malt.

Bottle: (Thanks Secret Santa!) Pours a brown ruby color with a huge tan head (good retention) The aroma is softly sweet with brown sugar, a cherry note and mild walnut. A bit too carbonated (I was anticipating this, as the bottle I had wasn’t filled up close enough to the top, leaving too much dissolved CO2 in the beer.) The flavor is relatively dry- some unsweetened cocoa, a soft British yeast fruitiness of cherry, and a solid nutty (walnut skin) bitter note with toasted character into the finish. Pretty solid, but I would like to try a bottle in better condition.

12oz bottle. Pours a dark, murky brown with a thick tan head. Spicy, malty aroma. Toasted, earthy malt flavor with a crisp bitter finish. A refreshing, drinkable brown.

Bottle. Warm brown color. Rich malty aroma the way most browns should be. Quaffable but not thin. Nice roasted malt character. Nice and dry and finishes with a hint of spice. A true session beer. Very nice example of the style.

Split bottle with Butters. First let me say this bottle was extremely overcarbonated and killed the entire experience for me. Burnt red in color with a burnt toast, roasty, flavor with a hoppy finish.

Gusher! Pours a murky light brown with massive tan head. Nose has some toffee, nutty. Vegetal nuttiness and some metallic, with huge carbonic bite. Not infected, but certainly overcarbonated.

Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with ruby hints and a big, creamy khaki head. Nose is toasty and floral, dry. Flavor is lots of toasty, roasty malt, breadcrust, nutty, dry, with a long, moderately bitter, dry finish. I prefer my brown ales less hoppy - the dry hop quality and the toast, almost roasty presence seem to emphasize each other in a way that makes both a bit more dry and unpleasant.
