Brown sugary malt, interesting hard-to-pin down fruit element (may unroasted hazelnut?), reedy bitter finish. Interesting and tasty. Certainly the lightest of the 3 I tried from this excellent brewery. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Normally I think brown ales are kinda dull - - but Duck Rabbit has added some life into their brown ale. mfaulke (81), clemson, South Carolina, USA

I liked the hoppiness but would have enjoyed a more prevalent malt character to boot. Not bad at all, but I definitely think that the porter and milk stout are the better of the nonseasonal brews. It wasn’t as rich and complex as I was hoping, and after I got over this, it was enjoyable. k4df4l (154), DTown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 17, 2008 12oz bottle pours a garnet brown with a massive fluffy light tan head that dissolves down to a dollop of cream on the surface through the glass. Aroma is light roast and slightly hoppy. Flavor is initially sharp & bitter followed by a malty mid palate featuring toasty & bready notes with a definite roasted flavor. Citrus hops come in to wash out the malt and it finishes bitter and somewhat astringent/minerally. Medium body and ample carbonation. Overall it’s somewhat perplexing as the different flavors seem to step on each other and the finish becomes unpleasant at times. unclemattie (2439), Georgia, USA

Clear, medium - dark brown color; Oversized tan head. Big floral hop aroma. Roasted barley character just short of the coffee/smoke notes of a fine porter. bold bitterness. toasted malts, nutty caramel, molasses. Balanced by a pine hop bitterness. A well hopped American Brown Ale. juiceisloose (677), Windermere, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 26, 2008 Courtesy elmatador. Pours a dark brownish red color with a huge, pillowy tan head that settles to a thick film. Huge chunks of lacing spread across the glass. The aroma is of sweet caramel malts, roasted nuts, and hops. The flavor shows the caramel sweetness and roasted nuts up front but are quickly washed out by the large amount of bitter hops. Medium bodied and a touch thin on the body and overly carbonated. The hops really show themselves with a long, bitter finish. Maybe a touch too bitter for me. Not a bad brown ale, but not my favorite.
