Always nice to see a new beer from DR, and I found this to be a really nice example of the style. Gleaming copper pour, with a moderate head. The nose is quite inviting, with soft fruits, (not too) sweet malts, and a dry nutty quality. Palate could be a bit more bold, but still nice as it lingers. The flavor wasn’t quite as complex as some doppelbocks I’ve had but was still lively and enjoyable, a good mix of bready grain and playful sweetness. Long smooth finish with a hint of smoke. Keep this one rocking through the winter, guys! TURDFERGUSON (1606), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
