Commercial Description:
A traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains which give this delicious beer its black color.

Thanks Jmichael for this freebie. This beer pours to a super dark red body that looks black. The beer has a light tan colored foamy head. The aroma is really decent with milk chocolate chips, roasted black malts, and black patent. Thankfully that wasn’t overdone. The flavor is roasted black patent, licorice, charred malts, and a balanced sweet chocolate. The palate is medium bodied and only lightly astringent from the charred malts.

Black color with a medium tan head. A little coffee aroma, but plenty of lactose. Very sweet milk sugar taste, a little malt balance and a light roasted malt finish. Very silky feel.

Aroma was faint but roasty. inky black in color and cannot be seen through. flavor is roasted, but has a band-aid flavor lurking in the back which ruins the experience. good full mouthfeel. But band-aid off flavor is not pleasing.

Thanks to Ucusty for this bottle. Pours brown from the bottle, but eventually becomes black in the glass with a large khaki head. Good strong aroma on this stout, definitely very milky, some white chocolate, coffee, cinnemon, and gingerbread. Sweet "Whoppers" malt taste at first, with a bit of caramel, acidic coffee, and something rather woody and almost salty. Slight cinnemon. Finishes with defined lactose qualities rolling across the back of the tongue, with mild bitter coffee aftertaste. Kinda cloying in the end with that woody "peaty" salt type taste. Works in most wee heavies, but I don’t want it in my stout. Medium bodied, fairly creamy, but a bit too carbonated. I like some things, I don’t like others.

Pours a pitch black color with a ring of light brown lace. Good aroma of chocolate and roasted malt with a lactic presence. Very pleasant Lactic flavor with roasted malt and chocolate, it finishes with bitterness. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation. It rocks my socks!!.

Pours very similar to their Porter; almost a spent oil color. Might be slightly lighter. I’ve never seen so much head on a Stout. Scent of chocolate, coffee, and malt. Lots going on with your swallow - roast malt flavor, creamy sweet, and you can definitely taste a milk substance.

Gotta tell ya...one hell of a stout. I like only makinsons xxx stout better & if I had to drink more than 3 , I would take the milk stout. It is so smooth & easy to drink, you almost dont know it is a stout. Must be the milk... A good friend brought one to me. I expected little from it but O.M.G. , knowing that he had had several before, I nearly killed him to obtain his blood & stomach fluid so that I may have more MILK STOUT!

12 oz bottle. Pours almost black with a thin off-white head. Fantastic chocolate aroma. Strong dark-chocolate taste, lots of roasted malts. Really one great stout, among the best I’ve had.
