Commercial Description:
A traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains which give this delicious beer its black color.

Bottle thanks to Guardyloo. Pours black brown, off white-tan-ish head. Aroma is chocolate, malt, molasses, smoke, ham and pineapple, coffee. Flavor is similar and roasted. Darn good sweet stout.

Great presentation and creamy palate. Really a good stout w/ good balance. Sweet at first then a hoppy finish but not too much so. Would love to try other DR beers.

Deep, dark brown with a large beige head. Milk chocolate, light herbal hops, and a medium roasted malt nose. Overly effervescent mouth. Flavor is sweet and roasted. Some cocoa, lactose, roasted malts, some molasses, and a finishing bitterness that comes more from the hops than the roasted malts. A nice stout.

Black in the center, brown at the edges and possessing a perfect light tan head that starts out two inches thick and drops to about half that in a minute or two. It smells slightly like milk chocolate (not chocolate milk). The taste has milk chocolate flavors with some hop bitterness that made my mouth pucker slightly. For beers under 6% Abv, Duck Rabbit beers certainly pack a lot of flavor. Much like all Duck Rabbit beers, this was a very tasty ale. I think I have only had one of their beers that I didn’t think was great (barleywine that was a drain pour). Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-16-2007 15:37:07

Draft at Pinhook. Dark brown with thin tan head and light lacing. Nose is roast with a hint of milky lactose and grassy hops. Flavor is rich roasty malts with light dairy presence and med-high hop bitterness and grassy flavor. Full-bodied rich malty texture like a milkshake. An amazingly smooth and flavorful stout, great example of this lesser known style.

Dark brown pour. Thin ring of head. Aromas of roast, cream, vanilla. Very simple beer. Slight tangy and tart flavor, which IMO does not work well with this beer. Simple beer. Drinkable, but far from my favorite. I’m slightly underwhelmed with Duck Rabbit thus far, but not enough to write them off completely. Thanks zizzybalubba!

Bottle. Drank a whole sixer of this on my trip to NC. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is roast, coffee, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor is coffee and cream, roasted malt, and caramel malt. A little milk chocolate. Palate is medium-full and creamy. Pretty solid overall.

Found old notes from Northern Virginia Summer BrewFest. On Tap. Pours a black color with a small dark tan head. Aromas are sweet malts, touch of caramel, cream. Flavor is pretty smooth, with a nice creamy body and a sweet malt flavor. Not too bitter, nicely balanced.
