(Bottle) while in my mouth, has a strange taste I cannot put my finger on. But the after taste it leaves is great! It is malty and chocolaty. The color is a dark brown. Overall, not a bad beer at all.

Thanks to Scubatrip for the bottle. Pours brown/black with a huge head. Good retention, spare lacing. Aroma it bitter coffee, perfumy hops and toasted malts. Tastes much sweeter than it smells. Not quite creamy texture. Sweet finish. Needs some fine-tuning.

Bottle and served in Unibroue tulip: Deep brown hue with a fading frothy tan head and left some lace. The aroma has notes of chocolate, earthy coffee, hint of milk lactose, some plum and prune, vapour of hazelnut, and a moderate dusty yeast ester.

The taste starts with the expected chocolate malty sweetness supported by a lactic twang and a light coffee bitterness. I found a yeasty chalky and earthy finish with some fruity sub notes. The mouth feel is not as creamy has hoped but worked within the framework of the brew (A little addition of oats would help this brew methinks). A solid stout and quite enjoyable, try some.

NorCal tasting Jan 07 - Number 4 of the 5 Duck-Rabbit beers I brought to the tasting. This beer, along with their regular Porter were probably my least favorite beer they make. With that being said, this was still a nice beer. Aroma of toffee, some caramel notes along with toasted grains and maybe some cocoa. Flavors were along the same lines as the nose but it was powered by the lactic sweetness. Thankfully, it wasn’t overly sweet.

Poured from a bottle. Nice appearance of black color with a small head. Had a sweet taste to it, with roasted malt and chocalate also. Really enjoyed this stout.

thanks Magjayran! clear black/dark dark brown with a nice lasting tan head. creamy coffee aroma. bittersweet mocha flavor. bitter medium dry coffee finish with light creamy chocolate notes. medium body. creamy mouth feel. solid balanced stout. i liked this one a lot.

Rating no. 900! Bottle. Sweetish cream-and-lactose aroma with chocolate and grain. Pours deep red, dark approaching opaque, with an overly-excited, rocky, creamy light brown head. Crisp and prickly, tangy sour acidity, near metallic at points, with light bitterness. Loads of berry and fruit blend distinctively. Some Kashi-dehydrated strawberries and syrupy molasses. Light apple cider. Aftertaste is bone dry and mildly bitter with a dose of roast and spice, and I can’t shake the feeling that a few ounces of scotch migrated over to this bottle from the Wee Heavy. Not much in the way of the chocolate or lactose indicated in the nose. A yeastiness which is semi-Belgian. Full body. Extremely robust flavor. Well-made and individualistic; after liking all five of their offerings, I’m impressed with D-R, one of the better young breweries in the country. Ah, but back to the Milk Stout: one of the early favorites for prettiest beer of the year, and though she’s not like any stout I’ve had before, she’s a good one!

Trade from Ross. Pours a dark brown color with brown fluffy head that fades quickly. Aroma of roasted coffee, chocolate. roasted grain and a hint of dustiness. Taste is chocolate, coffee, roasted grain with a touch of burnt grain. Very drinkable.
