Commercial Description:
Very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel.

Bottle courtesy of BMan1113VR. Pours almost black with a small tope head. Nose is papaya, coffee, apple brandy, and dark chocolate. Really taste nose. Taste is good but not great. Mouthfeel is on the thinner side, tastes like bacon, smoke, metal, chocolate, and some dried dark fruit. Pretty good but the nose is the real high point.

Bottle thanks to Suttree. Shared with ilovedarkbeer. Agreed with daknole, not even close to the Baltic Porter. Pours a very dark brown, with a light brown head that gives a good lacing. Very flowery aroma with chocolate and some dark fruits, apple and papaya as well. Taste is fruit with lots of coffee, a bit bitter and metallic. Light carbonation.

Pretty good porter, but not even close to the baltic that DR makes...not even close. Black pour with a small tannish head. Aromas of chocolate, espresso, roasted malt, toast, and nuts. Flavor is pretty robust, very toasty. Sweetness is muted and hops are evident, but not by much. well done for a basic porter.

Bottle in Durham.

Dark porter, very vinous, almost pushing sour, reminiscent of the baltic. Plenty of roast, a bright acidity. Interesting.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish light brown head - fairly clear, only slightly opaque. Aroma of roasted malt, brewed drip coffee, faint milk chocolate and a bit of lactic milk scents. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty malt flavour with some sweetness and tons of nuts. Aftertaste shows more body, malt, coffee and a bit of sweetness. Overall, a good porter - definitely worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Durham, North Carolina on 31-August-2008, sampled on 13-September-2008.

Bottle. Excellent porter! Pours a deep brown with a light tan head. Overall this was fruity with a medium chocolate/roast presence. At below 6% this is very quaffable. On the nose chocolate and roast, quite fruity for a porter. The flavor was more chocolate and caramel malt, fruity with a distinct acidic slant. Light bitterness. Quite carbed.

A ptertty good aroma. Looks okay. This is strange. Seems a bit off and soured to me; maybe some butterscotch. Not getting much roastiness either.
