Aroma of roasted (almost burnt) malt. Slick on the tongue that i didn’t care for, but otherwise nice medium-full body. Zero for two on being impressed with Duck Rabbit :( jhumphries69 (730), Tyrone, Georgia, USA

Pours a very dark brown - almost black - that is brilliant, deep ruby when held up to the light (dark brown and violet highlights). The head pours thick and rockey and tan in color. It doesn’t last long, but does leave a good bit of patchy lace on the glass as it goes down. The aroma is thick with dark fruit and roasty coffee. There is a hint of sour in the aroma, too. The flavor starts with dark fruit and residual sugar on the very tip of the tongue. As the beer nears mid-palate, the roasty aspect (dry cocoa powder, strong black coffee) begins to strengthen. At mid-palate there is a good bit of fruity and floral bitterness, dark fruit esters, and roastiness (almost ashen). The finish is quite dry and full of dark roasted grains. The mouthfeel is smooth and silky - well bubbled and adds quite a bit of pizazz all over the front and sides of the mouth, but it isn’t spritzy. The beer is medium-to-full in body. Overall, a very drinkable and very fruity porter. It has some of the house funk that the brown and amber ale had, but less intrusive - a much better balanced beer than those other two. The last bottle I brought back from a trip to Tennessee. For some reason when I look at the logo I always see the duck and almost never the rabbit. The head on this beer was a light brown and the bubbles were tightly packed together. The color is dark, dark brown almost black. The smell is hard to detect and very faint. The taste is very nice and reminds me a little of raisins. The mouthfeel is not heavy or thin, very nice. This is a really good porter that I would recommend to anyone who likes the style.

Blackish brown with thin average head. Smells like figs and burnt malt. Flavor is roasted slightly and malty - but not very special or memorable for me. Palate is highly carbonated. chandler0201 (358), Durham, North Carolina, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 31, 2008 Pours a near jet black with one finger beige head that settles to a thin skein with some simple lacing. Nose is slightly oxidized, with a strong iron twang, along with some smokey wooden notes and a faint cherry sourness. More irony qualities on the somewhat thin palate, along with dark bittersweet chocolate, tobacco, and a very unique yogurt-tart finish mixed with rooty, licorice like bitterness. Not too impressed with this one, compared to their other brews. TheEpeeist (1477), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA
