Commercial Description:
Very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel.

Taste is heavy on sweet coffee, roasted malt, and a bit of dark chocolate. Aroma is the same. Pours black with red highlights, and a small white head that does not last. Very tasty beer. Drinkable and enjoyable.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle. Appearance: Deep (almost black for that matter) brown with slight garnet highlights. A good sized, foamy, tan head with okay head retention. Aroma: Dominated by chocolate and roasted notes. A touch of raisin in there too. I would say almost stout like. Flavor: Coffee, earth, a little caramel, and a touch of raisin. Very tasty! Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a medium, slightly dry mouthfeel. Just light enough in body. Medium, bitter finish. Overall: A pretty damn fine Porter! I would love to have this one on cask. If you are a fan of the style, definitely give this one a try.

Bottle acquired via trade from zizzybalubba. Thanks! Dark pour with a thin tan head. Aromas of coffee roast, hazelnut. Very typical porter. Nothing special or out of the ordinary. Very average. This style rarely blows me away any more.

From the Jug at the GABF Colorado Convention Center, Denver 11/10/2008 Roast aroma. Beige head. Black smooth on the palate and a little fruity with some dryness in a crisp burnt roast finish.

Location: I thought I’d had this one before, but this rating is from a friend’s 12 oz bottle at the Brickskeller, 7/31/09

Overall Impression: A nice beer with a big porter flavor. Filled with nice coffee, chocolate, spice, and roasted flavors.
