Commercial Description:
Very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel.

Bottle: Dark brown, nearly black, large foamy light beige head, spotty lacing.   Certainly looks decent, even being that its 2 months past its best by date.   Seems like I have bad luck with these ones, all but one are beyond the drink by date.   Soft roasted malt nose and what I could best describe as cocoa and chocolate milk.   Slight lactic sourness on the tongue, otherwise soft roasted malts and a bit of sweet and sour chocolate milk.   I think this one has likely already peaked and is heading downhill.   Still enjoyable.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Has a little bit of hop bitterness towards the end and in the finish.   Semi-sweet cocoa and a soft lactic sourness linger.   This one is a bit odd as it is both sweet and sour, in the cocoa/chocolate milk sense.   I would see a bit more sweet than sour, thankfully.   Fairly clean too... at least finishes fairly clean.   Thanks Suttree for this one.

Aroma is chocolate, raisins, apple, and cinnamon. Black, with a thick, long lasting tan head. Alcohol is noticeable, but that could just be me. My last beer tasted very alcoholic too despite a relatively low ABV. Unusually thin bodied for a porter. Mainly apple core flavored. Perhaps some coffee notes, but that’s a bit of a stretch. Very subdued coffee and hop finish, woodier as it warms. Note: My ratings for the next few weeks are probably going to be out of whack since I have quit smoking.

Glad to find this here in Chattanooga. Best by 9/07. Pours a very dark brown with an attractive 1 finger light brown head. Diminishes quickly but retains a nice ring and swirls almost to the end along with decent lacing. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, a little raisin. Nice, but not particularly strong. Flavor is more of the same but turned up a notch. The roasted aspect really comes alive in the flavor with a nice kick in the finish and aftertaste. The oats are working here too. Mouthfeel is very smooth thanks to the oats, yet with a lively carbonation. I want to say its creamy and thin at the same time. A very nice balanced mouthfeel. I’m a sucker for oat-fueled beer, and this didn’t disappoint. I prefer this to the Milk Stout. They are similar in some ways, but the finish of each is quite distinct, and the porter is just so smooth. Will buy again, and again... Here baltic porter, porter, porter. Here baltic porter...

Bottle, Chris_o shindig. Brown/black, dirty tan head. Chocolate and rum aroma. Very straightforward. Fruity yeast, soft round warming, gentle roast, rum. Enough body to be satisfying, but not hot. I like this, and I suspect it would rate even higher on a day with fewer palate numbing beers competing.

I live close to this brewery and its distributor, so I get this beer very fresh. This porter is roasty goodness with a nice mouthfeel. It is a very drinkable porter. At 5.6% abv it allows more than simple sipping. Its nice to have one of the best southeastern brewers so close by. I’ll purchase this again.

12 oz. bottle from my Secret Santa - Opened with a big hiss. Pours a dark brown color with a huge light tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma is primarily roasted malt. My nose is a little stuffed up, so not much else is getting through. Flavor is also roasted malt with a light touch of choclate and coffee. Palate is slightly dry. Medium body. A good Porter. Thanks Santa.

Pours a black color with a medium light brownish beige head. Aroma of smoky and roasted malts, cola and chocolate. Taste is light smoky with hints of roasted malts, dark chocolate and nuts. Nice overall.
