Commercial Description:
Very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel.

Good porter. Roasted malt throughout. Touch of coffee. Great aroma. Jet black with tan head. Nice.

Nice robust coffee like flavor. A good after diner beer. Not too heavy. Got this in my beer of the month club.

Dark brown pour with beige frothy head and stick lace. Medium bodied, silky mouth-feel. Caramel, dark roast, chocolate, anise and a bitter finish.

Over the top sourness from this - more sour than anything else. Lots of dark chocolate with some burnt espresso bean notes and kind of a grassy finish.

one of the more over-carbonated brews I’ve had in some time. upon opening the bottle, it made such a loud psssshhh, I ran to the sink in fear it was going to be a gusher. some decent chocolate and a bit of coffee detected in spite of the carbonation. a far cry from this brewery’s Baltic Porter.

Pours pitch black with creamy tan head and minimal carbonation. The aroma is rich and chocolatey with noticeable malt characteristics. The flavor is complex with initial chocolate and malt flavors followed by lingering sweetness and tartness. Very smooth and drinkable.

Pour is a jet black with a average tan head. Aroma is a nice mix of chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor is decent with some milk chocolate and a roasted oat. Leaves a woody after taste on the tounge. Pretty decent attempt.

Rich milky chocolate roast aroma. Very smoth and drinkable, lots of roast character, medium sweetness, fairly fruit-tangy. Super dark ruby black-brown. Not the most complex that I’ve ever had, but it’s really very good. Ale-in-the-Mail, May 2007.
