Commercial Description:
Very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel.

Bottle at Brickskeller in DC. Darkest brown in color with a lasting tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, tobacco, and roast. Flavor is really roasty with dark chocolate, coffee, and smoke. Palate fairly creamy with medium body. Really good porter overall.

Great roasted character with potent spikes of dark chocolate lacing throughout. Good mouthfeel, creamy. All around good porter.

(trade with Suttree) Good looking tan foam head which lasts for awhile. Ultra dark body. Light doesn’t pass through.Flavor has somewhat roasty, but nice sweet malt is more prevelent. Definitely a nice porter.

Bottle thanks to Frumpty Dumpty, about 1 1/2 old. Surprisingly not a bottle bomb. Opaque black with small to medium, creamy beige head. Aroma is sweeter roast, tobacco, some cherry, really the only signs of oxidation. Same flavor of slight cherry with roast, coffee, tobacco, off-dry, slight dark fruit like raisin. Medium body and light carbonation that fades to creaminess. A really nice porter from a brewery that produces really amazing dark beers.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, minimal head. Aroma is of coffee and sour malts. Flavor is complex with chocolate, coffee, raisins, citrus and bread. Thick body. Reasonably dry finish. This porter is SOLID.

Draft at Taco Mac’s. Not a bad beer. Slight head with good retention. Dark, medium bodied porter appearance. Taste: malty, charcoal, and sweetness begin with a dry smooth, perhaps mildly hoppy after tasted. The smoothness is valuable in this beer. A personal bias would be more body to the beer, though Duck Rabbit is anything but lacking.

Bottle from StFun (Thanks!) Clear dark brown pour, medium carbonation with plenty of bitter chocolate/roasted malt on the nose. Flavor was light chocolate, then some vanilla and finished effervescent/smoky. Another well done DR offering!!

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ home.
[ Trade by GAManiac ]. Clear dark dark red brown color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, sea water notes, a bit like a ouster stout ! Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery - thin, carbonation is soft. [20090430]
