Commercial Description:
Very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel.

pours quite black with a big well-retained tan head. roasty nose leans towards rather sharp coffee notes. flavor even more-so with the coffee, with a pretty solid, drying IBU bite. nice beer. perhaps as much a dry stout as a porter, but hey.

12-oz., courtesy the kind hand of BitBucket. Dark ebony black. Medium tannish head--thin--that falls to light lace and a bit of swirl. Dusty chocolate and some sharp coffee on the nose. Forward, tingly attack and a big coffee bomb mid palate. Roasty and ashy, especially at the finish. Nice, but not one for sipping or sessioning as much as it is a food beer.

Could have been a slight problem with this bottle, popped the crown it sounded like a champagne release, upon pouring the glass became 95% foam, put the rest in another glass ,same thing, aroma was a smooth milk chocolate, taste was the same along with some caramel, body was slightly overcharged ,which might explain the huge head

12 oz bottle from North Carolina. Brought home by beerlord’s mother. Great beer, dark as oil, dark tan head that fades quickly but laces nicely. Firm body and mouthfeel. I would buy this if it were in the area, and glad I had a chance to try it because it’s not. Delicious.

Best before 02/07: I guess this is peaking right now, because it is pretty great. Blackened brown pour with a sticky beige head. Nutty caramels and sweet chocolates make up the enticing nose. Bitter hops and coffee round out the sweetness. The body echoes the nose - lots of malty sweetness offset by bitter espresso and baker’s chocolates. The finish is surprisingly hoppy - adding a great juxtapostion to the malty onslaught. This is a very solid example of the style.

Thanks to scubatrip for the bottle. Nearly opaque brown with a medium head. Aroma is quite subdued, with a little coffee, if I sniff hard. Flavor is bitter, with coffee mostly, and chocolate. Medium+ body. Bitter finish.

Dark brown in colour, thin tan coloured head, minimal lacing. The aroma is lactic (more-so then their Milk Stout), sugary, moderatly sweet, mild chocolate, very light smoke. The flavour is of milk chocolate, buttery and creamy, light coffee roast. Creamy mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes lightly sweet at first followed by a moderate bitterness, lingering, dry. I quite liked this but just like their Milk Stout I feel that this would benefit from a larger body.

355ml bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>JCB, thanks Jason.
Best before November 2006.

Pours from the bottle to a very dark brown-almost black color. Aroma is a malty sweet chocolate with hints of toffee, and raosted nuts. Flavor is more of the same malt sweetness. Palate is watery at first, but as the beer warms, it actually becomes more full tasting and the finish is thick and sweet.
