Commercial Description:
Very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel.

Nice dark opaque color with a thick dark tan head on the pour. Head dissapates fairly quily but never went away completly. Funky aroma, can’t put my finger on it, nice bitter sweet flavor. Could use a bit more body. sweet finish.

Color is pitch black in glass. Medium lacing and little head. Chocolate and coffee come to mind immediately. Malty and only slightly sweet. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Overall good beer.

Poured from a bottle as a very nice dark brown. Small light brown head. Nice aroma of chocolate. Flavor is wonderful. The chocolate really comes through in the taste along with roasted malt and a slight smokey taste to it.

Pours dark brown/black with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is dominated by molases and cola, with some roast and milk chocolate for good measure. Flavor is fairly dry, brown sugar, cola, anise, and roast. Medium/light body with a slightly thin and prickly texture.

NorCal tasting Jan 07 - My 2nd time with Duck Rabbit and this was a little less enthusiastic than the last. A woody aroma, but along with that there were some medicinal characteristics that were a bit off-putting. That and the anise in the nose, along with the wood made it hard to enjoy. Appearance was a deep brown/black with a khaki head. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Flavors had a little too much black patent/roast character for my liking. Still it wasn’t a horrible brew. Thanks to JCB for this too!

12oz bottle via trade with decaturstevo. Aroma: Nice roasted aroma with a strong chocolate note. Light yeastiness, smoke, and some brown sugar. Appearance: Dark brown in color with small walnut highlights. Medium beige head was huge and frothy with great retention. Good lacing. Flavor: Roasted malt with some nuts, coffee, and smoke. Palate: Medium-light bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: A good, solid easy to drink porter.

On tap, dark brown, little head. Aroma is roasty, some sweetness. Flavor is slightly sweet, lots of dark chocolate and roastiness. Silky. Pretty good.
