A woody aroma, but along with that there were some medicinal characteristics that were a bit off-putting. That and the anise in the nose, along with the wood made it hard to enjoy. Appearance was a deep brown/black with a khaki head. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Flavors had a little too much black patent/roast character for my liking. Still it wasn’t a horrible brew. Thanks to JCB for this too! RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
