Commercial Description:
Very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel.

Rich, dark brown body with thin, tan head. Slightly metallic taste. Stronger malt and chocolate flavors. Very clean aftertaste.

An opaque brown beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of chocolate, and hints of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with quite strong notes of chocolate as well as light roasted notes, though the roasted notes disappear before the end is reached, which is smooth and chocolaty.

The color was deep, mahogany/black. There was no light penetration. The head was beautiful, extremely fluffy, creamy, thick, and light brown. The aroma was very roasty, malty, alcohol, and a slightly sweet taste. The flavor was very roasty. It had a burnt/charred taste to it. THe palate was extremely carbonated and thin. The finihs was carbonated, bitter, and roasty.

Pours a dark brown that allows some ruby light through. Two finger creamy light tan head. The nose is lightly sweet, some light diacetyl, caramel, hints of roast, earthy hops. The flavor is earthy, lightly roasty, bitter coffee and chocolate, sweet. Smooth creamy mouthfeel, light bitterness from the malts. Finishes bitter and roasty.

The last of the D-R beers that I received from decaturstevo. Thanks! -- Duck-Rabbit Pours pours out a very dark red-brown color, but pretty much looks black in the glass. It has what seems to be the signature Duck-Rabbit head - HUGE, fluffy, collapses slowly., and has a decent lacing quality. It is also tan/brown in color. The aroma is milk chocolate and a bit of yeast. The flavor is robust and roasty and full of dark chocolate, blackened malt, and black coffee. As it gets warmer it reminds me more of a creamy mocha espresso drink. The finish is bitter like espresso and enhances the overall flavor well. The body is slightly more than just medium, but not quite full. It is also quite smooth on the palate. This is a satifying porter and another really good brew that is sadly not available in my area... Next up to drink is the D-R Baltic Porter than I have been waiting for quite some time to try! -- 12 of bottle (Enjoy by 11/06).

Bottled. Poured a clear, very deep ruddy brown with a medium cap of creamy beige head. Nose was of dry baker’s chocolate and airy coffee grounds.. malts singed and the aroma was fuller with warmth. Flavor was of burnt baker’s chocolate and grainy coffee.. coffee and herbal bitterness.. very tasty! Grainy and medium-bodied on the palate with soft carbonation.. left coffee bitterness and and excellent chocolate finish.

Bottle, from Sam’s Blue Light in Durham. Good aroma. Chocolate, coffee, little mealy nuttiness going on. Maybe call it meaty. Clean dark orangy brown color, small head that faded quickly to a ring then to nothing. Litlle to no lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Roasty smokey, caramel creeps in, little soapiness too. Medium body, creamy oily mouthfeel bitter dry finish. I really enjoyed this porter, could drink it all day long.

black body with small, tan head...burnt malts, chocolate and rye picked up in the nose..flavor profile is pretty standard of a heavily roasted porter (nothing special here)..a bit thin for a porter
