Commercial Description:
Very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel.

GABF 2006. Black bodied. Nose is roasty malts, chocolate and coffee - standard porter, pretty much, but a bit sweeter. The flavor of this one seems to echo that as well. More roasty malts, chocolate coffee but a tad sweeter than expected. Body is creamy and smooth. Medium-full with mild carbonation. Finishes with more roasty notes, sweet malts, and bittersweet chocolate.

Bottle thanks to ross. Pours nearly black but with a lighter head than the Baltic. Smells of chocolate, some dark fruits (raisins, plums, prunes) and some roastiness. Taste is of sweet roasted malt with a nutty afterbite. Also a pretty decent beer from this brewer.

Pours a very dark clear brown, thin head. Aroma is earthy, fruity. Lots of plum, grape. Taste is funky, moderately sour with lots of roast. Extermely mineralized, seems to fit the beer well. Finish is roasty, possible molasses. Body is pretty light but acceptable. Fun stuff.

Poured a very dark brown, not exactly black. Really no head. Aroma of chocolates, malt and grains. Taste of dark roasted chacolates and coffee. Pretty good porter, maybe just a bit above average.

Dark brown with a tinge of red. Fluffy texture; light and lively carbonation. Wonderful aromas of dark toast and espresso. Bit of sweetness. Healthy bitterness. Tasty porter.

12 oz bottle via trade with JCB. Thanks Jason! Garnet with a fizzy beige head that fades to a thick film, but never completely leaves. Nose is very malty chocolate, fruity, and rather nutty (hazelnut?). Mildly sweet flavor, chocolate and a light yeasty note - not sure what that’s about. Nut flavors emerge as it warms. Mildly bitter nut finish. Pretty good, but something just seems a tad off.

Pours dark brown with a fizzy tan head, lasting, and some slight spotty lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate malt (toast, roasted nuts, meal), yeast (dough) and fruit (raisins). Medium sweet chocolate malt, toast, mild bitterness and acidity, coffee notes and a slightly thin finish. Medium bodied, foamy and fizzy palate that ends dry.
