| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Bottled. Black pour with medium size tan head. Aromas of burnt chocolate malt with hints of grain and oat. Well balanced but it was just missing something. Try the baltic porter it is a full head above this one. glkaiser (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Medium brown with thin head. Roasted malts with a coffee and chocolate sticking out, as well as a slight dark fruit. Very smooth texture, and a light finishing bitterness. A bit thin, but a solid example. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 30, 2009 12 oz. bottle - thanks to grownfool for the trade; thin, light brown with trace white head along the edge; very sweet nose with raw toffee, faint bitter chocolate, sugary malts; amazingly thin body with zero roast and lots of stale, malty sweetness; some chocolate perhaps; well below average in terms of body, flavor and complexity; even though i’m a homer for porters and DR are the self proclaimed dark beer specialists, they are 0-2 to me so far petematte46 (225), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 19, 2009 An average porter. Very thin body. Taste of coffee, dark malt favors. Somewhat flatter than what I like. I was frankly surprised because usually all the Duck-Rabbit brands exceed my expectations. This one met them, which is still good.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 2, 2009 Being a mid-westerner, I haven’t had the opportunity to try Duck-Rabbit beers before, but have heard they are held in high regard. And I didn’t find this one to be especially worthy of the praise I’ve heard for this brewery. It is a little light in color (more a red-brown than a black) and had a decent amount of off-white head. Aroma was decently roasty, although pretty light in roastiness for this style. Flavor was roasty, toffee-ish, and has a weird, slightly sour malted milkball note that I didn’t especially enjoy. Mouthfeel was a little thin, and fairly dry.
Decent, but decidedly average. I wouldn’t hesitate to try some other Duck-Rabbit beers, but I’d be reluctant to give this one another try. HonkeyBra (1345), Lemont, Illinois, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 1, 2009 Taste is heavy on sweet coffee, roasted malt, and a bit of dark chocolate. Aroma is the same. Pours black with red highlights, and a small white head that does not last. Very tasty beer. Drinkable and enjoyable.
