Pours black with thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and dark fruits. Good lacing. Taste is big on chocolate, molasses, and dark fruit. Alcohol definitely hot in this one. Thinner mouthfeel than I like.

Thanks retorp for the share. Pours dark black with a tan head. Lots of yellow lacing upon swirl. Nose is chocolate, roasted malt, licorice, some oak character and a bit of coffee bitterness. The coffee sticks around at the end and reminds you that you could use another one. Very nice.

Pours like used motor oil with a small light brown head with good lacing and alcohol legs. The aroma is sweet and very complex with notes of chocolate, coffee, black licorice, dark fruits and oak with a boozy overtone. The flavor is also slightly sweet and very complex with flavors of oak, charcoal, chocolate, and coffee with a clean finish. The texture is syrupy. Overall I’d say its an exceptional stout, very enjoyable.

Bottle thanks to daknole, best by 04/09 (No idea how old this makes it), wow this was good! Pours thick with a deep brown head that dissipates over the black body. Aroma of DR fruity yeast, vanilla, chocolate, oak, unami and licorice. Taste is wood, roast, sweet fruits, smoke, chocolate, plums and figs. Very complex. Syrupy mouthfeel, mouth coating with light carbonation.

[1771-20081013] 355mL bottle. Plum fruit dark fig and roasted malt aroma. Dark brown black body with a medium-lasting creamy tan head. Coffee plum roast flavour has mild cocoa hints and slightly noticeable alcohol. Full body. Very nice stout: solid, heavy and lovely.

12oz bottle courtesy of onenote81. Pours a murky dark brown to black with a tannish yellow head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is sweet and creamy with notes of chocolate, heavy cream, ripe dark fruit, dark cherries, slight notes of coffee, toffee, and roasted malt. Flavor is sweet and roasted with notes of ripe dark fruit, toffee, candy sugar, molasses, dark chocolate, some yeastiness. Generally medium body with a pleasing malty coffee finish.

Bottle courtesy of mreusch. Thanks again for the bottle, Matt! Pours jet black with a lasting creamy mocha head; quite pretty. The nose is of solid, sweet dark fruit, cherries and chocolate over dark roast. Medium-bodied and creamy, it transitions to a moderately acidic finish. Black cherries, dark fruit and dark roasted malt with a distinctly dry Fantome-like yeast quality at the finish. The appearance and nose promised great things, but I found the flavor profile a bit of a Frankenstein. Perhaps some age might have smoothed the edges a bit, but as it is, it doesn’t do much for me.

12 oz bottle graciously shared by Gregis. 08 notched on bottle. Pour is deep black, cloudy with thin ruby highlights. Head is one inch, khaki, falls pretty fast with pretty lacing. Aroma of roasty espresso maltiness. Some tobacco, some sweet cane sugar. Touch of cherry fruit. Taste is soy, grassy, than the roastiness from the nose. The cane sugar sweetness comes in mid-palate, featuring some cherry and really overwhelms the finish. Sweetness continues to dominate the taste, getting a bit cloying. The alcohol is present in the end, and jumps out. This probably could have used a bit of age on it, a little jagged right now. Thanks for sharing Greg.
