Bottle. Poured black with a creamy brown head that settles to a ring and left light lace. Initial aroma of chocolate milk but as it warms some roast and dark fruits also come out. The flavor finds lots of roast and chocolate with a coffee background and light alcohol. Full body with a warming feeling and a bitter aftertaste. Very nice RIS!

12 oz bottle courtesy of dkachur. Pours an opaque black color with a small tan head. The aroma is big and complex with black licorice, coffee, dark fruits and molasses. The flavor pretty much follows the nose with the dark fruits taking center stage and the coffee outlying in the wings. The mouthfeel is silky smooth. The finish is long with lingering licorice and black walnuts. Overall: One of the best stouts that I have had in quite some time. Very tasty. Thanks Dan.

Bottle. The aroma is the best thing about this beer. Strong sweet roasted malt fills the nose. It looks good too, completely dark black with a thick medium sized head. The flavor was also fairly unique, however not my favorite. Tons of roasted malt that is bitter sweet and slightly salty. I never really picked up on notes of a soy sauce type of flavor in a beer before, until this one. Has an odd, but intriguing, hint of sourness in the finish. The finish lingers for quite some time but the palate leans a little too much to the watery side. An interesting imperial stout.

Fantastic RIS! The smell is a true wonder. Black soysauce and sausage-grease, combined with sugary rum and malts. Loads of roastyness, but it is combined with a very sweet saltiness, as if heavily salted butter was used to make a batch of chocolate. Very good and underrated--I think this rating should be swapped with the disastrously overrated DR Baltic Porter, because this beer tastes world class to me.

Bottle from Santa. Thanks!
Pours a nice onyx, with a head of olive green. Aroma is sweet chocolate bar with a tinge of plastic. Flavor is chocolate with a bacon- yes, bacon- aftertaste. Average mouthfeel. Above average Russian Imperial Stout, but not much else.

Bottle bought from Whole Foods, Raleigh, NC. Poured a dark thick black colour that no light could penetrate. Heavy smell of dark chocolate and rum. Mouthfeel was not as thick as I like in my ImpStouts; but this had a smooth milky appeal. Finish is strong and the alcohol was presented in a well balanced way along with a pleasant roasted bitterness. A nice surprise; very good and quite enjoyable.

Poured a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma was very dried coffee beans and some alcohol. Flavor was alot of coffee with some nice roasted notes and some chocolate to mellow things out.

Thanks to durhambeer for this awesome beer! Pours oily black with a thick creamy dark tan head. Big roasty grain, chocolate malt, and dark fruit aroma. Roasted grains more chocolate malt and nice dark fruit taste with hints of fig and raisin. Nice creamy body, great lacing and a great aftertaste, not too cloying. I have to give this a resounding WOW!
