Medium bodied. Has a heavy alcoholwarmth in the end and a light coffee bitterness. Nice without excelling. drfabulous (1252), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 9, 2007 Very thick. Very creamy. Head pours a rich creamy color. Nice taste of chocolate mixed in. Like the milk stout, this one has a bit of sour in it. Nice. Or maybe what I call sour others might call a bit of fruit taste. Overall, a solid stout. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA

Deep, murky brown color. Roasted malt aromas with some toffee, coffee and alcohol. Sharply astringent with lots of roastiness (is that a word?). Coffee and dark fruit notes. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA

An impressive appearance, dark brownish black with a robust light brown head of cream foam, good retention, splotchy laced sticking from the top to bottom of the glass.
Rich roasted malt smells, dark chocolate with cherries, dark roasted coffee, a light scent of vanilla and even fainter smell of smoke. As it warms aromas of charred wood and roasted nuts come out.
Airy creamy feel in the mouth, moderate body that is oily slick on the tongue. The roasted malts are sweet with a mild dry bitterness. Dark chocolate that melds with the dark roast coffee, not a bitter French roast, but milder. The charred and vanilla flavors are faintly in the background, as is the dark cherry fruitiness. Towards the end an subtle citric hop emerges, adding to the dry and mildly bitter finish. The alcohol meshes with the cherries for a low temperature fruity warmth in the palate.
A nice RIS from the Duck-Rabbit, quite pleasurable to consume on a cold December night.

The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of chocolate and hard roasted malt, and medium notes of soy sauce and alcohol. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is roasty, a bit sweet, and a lot coffeeish/winey/burnt. Flavor has some dark/burnt malts, roast, coffee, chocolate. Thick, thick, thick - Expedition fans will love it most likely. Not the greatest ever, but pretty dang good - even better than the Baltic Porter. mreusch (736), Olathe, Kansas, USA
