| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 15, 2007 Pours very thick and dark with a creamy dark colored head that sticks around for a good while. The aroma is rich and complex with notes of cafe au lait, burnt caramel, roasted woods, and dark chocolate. The flavor is a bit of a let down coming off of that nose. There are notes of astringent coffee, roasted malts, chickory, and chewy smokiness. Not very complex and not really that enjoyable. The finish is not pleseant either. This beer looks and smells great, but falls on its face after it passes your lips. Naven (876), Poway, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 8, 2007 12 oz bottle. Very dark pour, aroma of malt, chocolate and oak. Flavor is bitter, dry, sour, harsh. Alcohol burn is constant and lingering. Really didn’t improve as it warmed. Not very good. SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 3, 2007 Bottle: Pours very dark with barely a hint of red highlight, brown 1 finger creamy head. Aroma is rich and roasty, chocolatey and fruity with a hint of acidicness. Flavor is very rich, very malty, dark chocolate, burnt wood, and the same fruity pebbles ish flavor i got from the Baltic Porter. This beer is also moderately bitter and has some alcohol warmth and some acidicness. Tastes amazing but this beer could give someone heartburn.
