Molasses, roasted, and smoke flavor. An extremely bitter and dry beer. Alcohol is very present. This will cleanse your mouth, like stripping your teeth. :) So far I think their regular beers have been more impressive. *edit - this is much easier to drink out of the bottle. Opaque black with a huge dark brown sugar head that lasts forever and leaves crusty lace everywhere. Big smoky coffee, dark fruit, molasses and cocoa nose. Flavor is initially anise, big dark chocolate-flavored molasses and dark fruit, turns to coffee, burnt toffee, soy sauce, earthy and charred wood, just the right touch of alcohol (not much) , and a slight lactose-metallic hop twang. Large and syrupy smooth body has a nice tongue tingle all the way through. Lots of balanced and excellent flavors; one of the best desserts you’ll ever find! Oakes (8163), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 16, 2007 Pretty black. The aroma is milky, roasty, with a hint of molasses. Thick, rich brew. Molasses and stinging roast throughout, with an alcohol tickle down the throat. I’m not terribly enthusiastic about this one - it’s all stinging roast and doesn’t offer much nuance. The character isn’t as rounded with lush sugars as a typical DR brew. cmr1517 (35), New Haven, Indiana, USA

Hit me like a sledgehammer, tobacco, coffee, thick and with prominent alcohol. Did someone pour a shot of bourbon in my beer? beerbuzzmontreal (2931), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Very good aroma and flavor of roasted malt and chocolate with a bitter finish, it’s powerfull without being too aggressive. The body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Very good, very well done. pintocb (518), Darsville, Georgia, USA
