Pours a goth black with a rising tan head. The aroma on this is massive, consisting of raisins, anise, chocolate, coffee, and dark roasted malt. Smooth and silky, yet wasn’t very heavy on the palate. Big dark chocolate taste followed by some marshmallow and dark cherries. Pretty damn good.

Thanks MikeTD. Pitch black, tan head. Aroma is coffee and bourbon. Flavor is bourbon, coffee, espresso, soy sauce, mollasses, and cloying sugary sweetness. Chocolate is chalky and dry and very lingering in the aftertaste. Espresso, hoppy, burnt chocolate, somethings off.

12 oz bottle 6/29/07: Black w/a lasting tan head. Chocolate, roast, light raisiny esters, doughy and toasty malt, light caramel and some mild alcohol notes. Well balanced. Chocolate, light roasted malt, lightly bitter from grains, light caramel and a hint of tartness from grains. Medium raisiny fruity esters stronger than in the aroma. Finish is semi dry. Roasty & chocolate w/a lingering roasty, toasted malt and bitter aftertaste. The flavor is complex, but not heavy or cloying. Smooth, creamy texture, well hidden alcohol, fuller medium body. Very well made beer! They do most of their beers very well, and this is no exception! Not the top imperial stout I’ve had, but very, very good.

Sampled at Chris_o’s Shindig: Plenty of dates, coffee, grapes, and cellar aromas; roasty, initially, complex chocolate and creosote, caramel, earthy hop flavors; creamy palate.....just wonderful.

Pitch black, creamy tan head. Nice roasty black chocolate nose that’s layered on wafts of softly burnt coffee, red currants, and hints of maple. Tangy vinous black chocolate and roasted coffee flavors receive a decent shot of hop bitterness to balance the hefty malt bill. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, drying, bittersweet finish. A well made sipper. Thanks for sharing jasonp...

I was stoked to get this, but all in all, it was simply not my thing. It had an oddly acidic taste that I found off-putting.

Typical american impy stout pour......black.........black hole black, 10 year old engine oil black. Aroma is HUGE. It’s loaded with roasted malt, smoke, chocolate, vanilla, and alcohol. Mouthfeel is a little odd........i’m getting this kinda sour feeling, not flavour, but a feeling in my mouth. Its super thick, almost chewy. Flavour is VERY strong. again, loads of roasted malt, and chocolate, and vanilla. Nice bitter finish, with a lovely coffee aftertaste. The alcohol is present, but its welcome. Interesting stout, a tad bit unbalanced, but still very good.

Bottle @ Chris_o shindig 2007. Dark black color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is licorice, dark chocolate, some roasted malt. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, fonish feel is light ot moderate alcoholic. Very nice. ;o))
