It was late in a tasting session when I ahd this one so I did not pick up on the aroma. Nice hoppy finish. I would definitely get this one again and so far have been impressed with everything I have had from this brewery. Tmoney99 (4763), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured a black color with an average creamy brown head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Heavy roasted malt and coffee aroma. Full body with a smooth texture. Good complex roasted flavor with a heavy roasted bittersweet finish of long duration. Good complex standout brew. kmweaver (2471), Sebastopol, California, USA

Pours a dark black core; medium brown edges with decent lacing. Some lactic sourness and bitter chocolate in the aroma; charred / burnt malts. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: boozy, dried dark fruits; charred malts and bitter chocolate, with a slightly tart, lactic presence - like an imperial foreign stout; some alcohol pokes through. Lengthy, bitter chocolate and dried dark fruit finish; mild tartness. harrisoni (6828), Ashford, Kent, England

Considering the amount I had drunk and the lateness of the hour and the number of impy stouts we had, this one still stood out. DrHomolka (728), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 11, 2007 12oz bottle. Cute label. Pours brown/black with a huge, foamy brown head. Good retention. Strong aroma of rich chocolate and a deep fruitiness. Chocolate covered strawberries. Strawberry jam. Interesting. Probably the fruitiest smelling imperial stout I’ve ever encountered. Bitter, full bodied. Hoppy. Piney. Dark fruits. Sweet. Tingly in the mouth. Strong coffee finish. Reminds me of another beer that tastes identical to this but I can’t remember. This is good though. argo0 (6939), Washington DC, USA

Medium body, some creaminess. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Aug 10, 2007 12 oz bottle from a sixer I picked up at Whole Foods, Raleigh. Pours an opaque black with a brown head. Rum raisin, roastiness and some sourness in the nose. As for flavor, it has a massive sharp roastiness then a ton of lactic sourness, acidity and general tartness, which I found distracting. Dark roasty coffee and ends with a partially burnt, salty character. Full, round and creamy with moderate carbonation. I just couldn’t get into this one. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 10, 2007 Sample from a 12oz bottle. Fuesal char and smoke nose - caustic even, but I find this in nearly every Duck Rabbit bottle I’ve had. Pasty, lactic milk notes, lightly sour, and in an imperial stout that is a huge turnoff. Sure it’s full of smoke, char, burnt wood, burnt coffee and campfire, but I think it’s missing some chocolate malt sweetness. Fizzy on the tongue but not thin. My biggest complaint it just how messy and disorganized this beer is, from the lactic sourness to the reliance on heavy, biting roast and high alcohol.
