Bottled. A pitch black beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of chocolate, and medium notes of roasted malt lending it a bit of acidity, but also hints of citrus. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of chocolate and hard roasted malt, and medium notes of soy sauce and alcohol.

Pretty black. The aroma is milky, roasty, with a hint of molasses. Thick, rich brew. Molasses and stinging roast throughout, with an alcohol tickle down the throat. I’m not terribly enthusiastic about this one - it’s all stinging roast and doesn’t offer much nuance. The character isn’t as rounded with lush sugars as a typical DR brew.

Black color; generous creamy head. Nice aroma, coffeish, creamy. Thick body, quite oily, strong chocolate and dark caramel flavor, some roasted malt too, a hint of liquorice and cinnamon; everything is very well mixed. Strong final, well bitter; if I can just dislike something, it’s a bit of sourness in the end. Powerful, excellent.
