Aroma was at first strong mocha, but as it warmed turned to soy sauce and later on to ringwood funk. it hides the alcohol well though. Poured jet black with very small tan head. flavor was at first chocolate but later this turned into lots of soy sauce with an astringent and slight edge to it. Not enjoyable to finish. mouth feel was alright, full bodied with some drinkability from the low carbonation. Didn’t have the flavor notes I like in an Impy stout.

bottle thanks to dak! pours black witha minimal sparse, airy head, yet with great retention. aroma, taste and mouth fell are all very robust. a nice brew, a ba version would be great!

Pours black with an inch of head. Coffee, malt, molasses and chocolate inn the nose. Thick in the mouth with some chocolate, malt, dark fruit. Nice.

From Daknole. Pours black with a reddish hint, no head to speak of. The aroma is caramel toffee coffee, with a hint of sweetness; also some figs, honey a touch of licorice. The taste is some bitter, some burnt/smokey, a little alcohol but very tasty.

16th June 2008. Not by any means watery but not as thick as a lot of Impy Stouts. Lots of mildy toasted malt. Molasses and subtle tones of chocolate and coffee. No real bitterness. Well joined up.

Enjoyed via draft in a whiskey snifter. The beer pours an opaque jet black with a deep tan head. Carbonation is medium-low, perhaps two volumes. The aroma is of dark chocolate, some high crystals, and a slight alcoholic tinge. The palate replicates these flavors, along with some milk chocolate, a bit of caramel, and unfortunately, a tidal wave of alcohol on the back end. The latter items takes away from the rest of the beer’s character, and evidences the need for longer aging. Overall, this is easily the best Duck Rabbit beer I’ve tried.

Black as night with a very dark head. Molasses, coffee, roasted malts, some cocoa as well as chocolate in the aroma. Thick, syrupy body. Flavor is rather molasses filled. Also full of chocolate, roasted malts, some coffee, dark fruits and light licorice. Very nice impy.

12oz bottle at the Brickskeller. Pitch black, with a beige-brown, oily, patchy head. Big-time roasty aroma. Lots of chocolate and coffee. Lots of underlying flavor, but the alcohol tends to dominate, not unlike other big DR beers. Other than that it is pretty right on, with some pleasant sweet maltiness.
