Small tan head, retention is fair, lacing is spotty. Clear amber color. Nose of sweet malts, light smokeyness and earth. Body is med/full with a silky palate and softly prickly carbonation. Malty sweetness drys out after a few sips and leaves you with some nice toasted and smokey flavors along with some caramel, berrys, light wood and alc. notes that are nice. Some dark fruity notes appear, hints of raisin and maybe a touch of molasses. Lightly sweet and fruity finish. I,m not much of a Scotch ale person but this a nice brew. Bottle received in trade, not sure who from though. For that i apologize and also say, Thanks!

(Bottle thanks to whoever sent this) Pours a beautiful deep mahogany red colour with a small head. The aroma is malty up front with some tones of buttery caramel, toffee, maple syrup, brown sugar, bread, nuts - almond walnut shells, and light smoke. Dark fruity and light spicy undertones of figs, (rum) raisins, cinnamon buns, vanilla, mild white pepper, oven baked apples and cherries. Alcohol, dough and earth is also present. The flavour is medium malty, and light hoppy with light sourish sting in the finish. Tones of caramel, toffee, smoke, nuts, syrup, brown sugar, some dark fruits, sourish berries/cherries, light spicy and some alcohol, Bit vinous. The mouthfeel is thick and a bit oily but, on the other hand, maybe a bit too syrupy. Medium to heavily sweet, light bitter and light to medium acid. Sticky malt and a light wine-ish tartness lingering. Medium to full bodied.

From the bottle, pours a dark and opaque bfrown with little tan head. Aroma is of alcohol and brown sugar. Taste is heavy and of alcohol and sweetness. Really overshadows any other flavors. Too sweet and heavy to have any more than one in a night, but a pretty good scotch ale.

Clear dark amber body with a small white head that quickly fades. The nose is overly sweet and fruity, not a good start. There also a bit of a medicinal quality that doesn’t help either. Not surprisingly, the beer is grossly oversweet, virtually unhopped with lots of characteristics of stressed yeast. Finishes with medicine and minerals. Medium/full body is sticky and thins out on the finish due to obviously excessive filtering. Avoid.

Deep copper to brown in color with a head of beige bubbles. The nose was filled with honey, maple syrup, malt and caramel. The palate was equally sweet with similar flavors and a mouth-coating richness. Maybe a touch sweet for my taste but quite nice overall.

Sampled at Hellbilly’s Hellraiser II. Bottle courtesy of Rustychiles. Pours a clear amber with minimal head. Nose is brown sugar and alcohol. Palate is caramel malt, brown sugar and a touch of hops. Not a big Scotch Ale fan, but this is decent a suppose.
