Pours a reddish brown color with a small yellowish head that fades quickly. Smells of darky caramelly malts and alcohol. Tastes of dark caramelly malts and alcohol, naybe a little bit of raisin in there too. Thickish, kind of syrupy. Somewhat light on the carbonation. Not a bad Wee Heavy, I am not really a fan of this style but this one wasn’t a bad one for sure.

ruddy brown looks with a thin khaki head that leaves a bit of lacing as you drink. starts sweet and finishes a little earthy with a caramel/toffee note.

Sampled many times most recently courtesy of Miver. Poured a ruby red body with a small white head. Strong candied and sweet carmel malt nose. Flavors start with sweet carmel and molasses with some mild smoked peat and earthy hops.

Picked up bottle while in OBX. Poured reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma was sweet and malty. Taste was certainly sweet at first with not much peat smoke. It had an earthy finish with light signs of alcohol. It didn’t really come across as a solid wee heavy style. I’d like to try again sometime.

Very dark red with a beige head that leaves bits of lacing. Aromas of caramelized sugar, chocolate, sherry, and maybe a touch of oxidation. Sweet at the beginning, almost a cherry Tootsie Pop flavor with a lingering sweet finish. Some other sweet caramel and toffee flavors also show up in the taste. High carbonation and full body, but it gives the impression of having less body from the carbonation.

Bottle. Big thanks to Turdferguson for hooking me up with a sixer. It took me 3-4 trys on this beer to give it a proper rating. The first two bottles I had were disappointing. Both seemed to be too harsh, unbalanced and more or less a garbage of a beer. So I decided to let the rest of my bottles sit and settle for a chance at becomming the well rated beer it is shown as being. Finally on the last two bottles the beer has really shown itself to me. Smokey flavor, rich malt, caramel and a nice kick to it have made this enjoyable. Another thanks to Sam for bonusing me an 06 bottle that I will have to crack open soon to enjoy!Update:. This isn’t getting any better.

Bottled. Poured a deep, healthy reddish-brown with a short cap of beige head. The aroma picked up healthy doses of smoky caramel and sweeter chocolates with some floral and herbal accents.. sweet and succulent with a touch of pine and alcohol at the back. The flavor had sweeter, smoked caramel along with sticky molasses, brown sugar, and more caramel at the back.. tasty!.. a bit of alcohol-fueled warmth on the back. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation and a creamy feel.. a little grainy at the back, which provided a good feel for the drink falling into the finish.. warm and very good!

Pours reddish/brown forming light brown foamy head. Aroma of burnt plums, dark toffee, roasted malts. Flavour is somewhat sweet, burnt brown sugars, malts, earthen oak like tones with a slight alcohol finish. Overall a well made beer, not my fave style, but still a good beer to drink on a cold night in front of the fire place.
