This was surprisingly good. Compared favorably to my favorite (Alesmith Wee Heavy). Deep mahogany body with a frothy ecru head. Caramel malts, dried fruit, toffee, oak, and mollasses brown sugar in the nose and carried over to the flavor. Full-bodied and creamy with a pleasant sweetness and an alcohol finish.

Pours dark rusty brown with some orange highlights and a medium tannish head. Aroma of molasses, pears, toffee, peanuts, hazelnut, raisins and rum (as it warms anyway). Less peaty and more sweet than I expected. Taste follows suite and I immediately notice how sweet and low-carbonated it is. Tastes of molasses, brown sugar, toffee, raisins, rum, something like bitter raspberries...finishes a little hot, with the flavor of sweet rum-soaked toast. Buttery earthy aftertaste. As I said earlier, very nice low-carbonated texture, more creamy than slick (though slicker as it warms and the head dies) and definitely on the thick side compared to some other wee heavies I’ve had. I gotta say, I’m very impressed, but I’m a big fan of beers that others find medicinal and sticky. Thanks to Ucusty for this extremely wonderful beer!

9-21-07 bottle. Dark brown color... I can’t actually try to rate this beer with any ounce of seriousness. All I can possibly write about this beer is COUGH MEDICINE. The taste is just dreadful for me. My tongue wanted to reject it. I just don’t get it at all!

Aroma was toffe malt with a really off cheese note in the backround the leaned toward parmasan. poured a dark rubyish amber with a white head that disipates in time. Flavor was not so great with some toffee and carmel, but it mixed in with that cheesy flavor and was not enjoyable. palate fit style being slightly syruppy. I haven’t had a duck-rabbit that I’ve enjoyed yet? This is the third beer out of te six pack I tried too and I found majoy fault in other beers I had from them

Bottle; poured a brownish red with an off white head. Sweet, malty aroma; heavy on the caramel and dark fruit. Found the alcohol a bit pronounced for the style; had some qualities of a barley wine. Mouthfeel was a little rough. Lacked a really pronounced peat/smoke flavor. Flavor was sweet. Overall, was a bit dissapointed.

12 oz. bottle. Aroma was instense candy-caramel sweetness. Appearance lacked anything extraordinary - in fact, it was rather thin and unwelcoming. The flavor was over the top, cloyingly sweet. Very very thick, chewy, and syrup like - it was almost hard to swallow it was so sticky thick. And not in a good way - usually I’m an advocate of such a mouthfeel. it also seemed hotter than 8%. Really wasn’t feeling this, it didn’t seem to work for me....

12 oz bottle courtesy of Performula. Pours a deep reddish amber color with a white head. Nose was intensely sweet. Like breaking a Milky Way candy bar in half. Mouthfeel was thick, heavy and syrupy. Taste was sweet. Caramel and brown sugar dominate the initial taste. As the brew warms you get some sublte undertones of dark fruits. Perhaps chocolate covered, liquor filled, cherries. A bit of bitterness in the finish with some alcohol burn. All in all a good brew, but you probably would only want one per evening.

12oz, . . . enjoy by 06 08, big thanks to Ben (NachlamSie) for grabbing me this. My last of the Duck-Rabbit beers. Clear brownish red with a small yellowish beige head, fading to a ring before long. Sweet caramel malts up front with some salty leather? Juicy fruity raisins and light peated malt com next--not as much peated malt as I had wanted, but it has a bit of an old ale quality that I do enjoy. Lots of fruity tartness and sweetness makes up the flavor. There is also some grain, sweet caramel, and some light tobacco leaves here as well. Alcohol is present. Low carbonation with a medium full body. Kind of like a tangy English barleywine--though I did find it better than their barleywine (despite the lower rating). Quite the disappointment, considering I’ve been looking for this for over a year.
