12 oz bottle courtesy of Performula. Pours a deep reddish amber color with a white head. Nose was intensely sweet. Like breaking a Milky Way candy bar in half. Mouthfeel was thick, heavy and syrupy. Taste was sweet. Caramel and brown sugar dominate the initial taste. As the brew warms you get some sublte undertones of dark fruits. Perhaps chocolate covered, liquor filled, cherries. A bit of bitterness in the finish with some alcohol burn. All in all a good brew, but you probably would only want one per evening.

12oz, . . . enjoy by 06 08, big thanks to Ben (NachlamSie) for grabbing me this. My last of the Duck-Rabbit beers. Clear brownish red with a small yellowish beige head, fading to a ring before long. Sweet caramel malts up front with some salty leather? Juicy fruity raisins and light peated malt com next--not as much peated malt as I had wanted, but it has a bit of an old ale quality that I do enjoy. Lots of fruity tartness and sweetness makes up the flavor. There is also some grain, sweet caramel, and some light tobacco leaves here as well. Alcohol is present. Low carbonation with a medium full body. Kind of like a tangy English barleywine--though I did find it better than their barleywine (despite the lower rating). Quite the disappointment, considering I’ve been looking for this for over a year.

Bottle courtesy of Turdfurgeson: Poured a deep clear copper color ale with an average size head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of sweet malt is quite intense. Taste is also dominated by the intense sweet malt with no notes of peat malt or toffee that I usually like in the style. This beer resemble more a barleywine then a scotch ale and was definitely too sweet for the style.

Murky, dark-amber pour with a minimal head and ring retention. The nose is of definite caramel and toffee, with a small sour essence of dark cherries and some slight alcohol. The flavors follow much in tow, with caramel sweetness, fruity esters (dark, perhaps?), and a slightly bitter finish that integrates with the presence of alcohol. This provides not necessarily a "burn", per se, but enhances the bite of the pull’s end. Provides a lively body with medium-light carbonation levels, tingles the tongue with a hint of fruit, bitters and alcohol. My only concern is that the complexities at work don’t release from the finish as well as they begin. It feels like a very nice offering, but I wish the close of the pull was as "dark" as the rest of its components. It has an airy "bright" feel, and the rest of the contingencies point otherwise. It is well-integrated, though, especially when warmed closer to room temperature, about 15 degrees (or resting for 10-15 minutes). A decent Scotch ale, and another nice offering from the Duck-Rabbit brewery.

Bottle. Pours an amber brown with a thin off white head. Just a little lacing on the glass. The aroma is a bit of caramel, dark sweet fruits, and alcohol. The flavor is a bit sweet. Caramel and alcohol stand out in this one. Hints of fruit. A very different aftertaste in this one. Very well put together.

Bottle, courtesy of JayG. Pours a clear brown color with a ring of beige lace. Aroma of caramel, earthy malt and mild alcohol. Good flavor of caramel, earthy malt and mild alcohol. The body is light with a liquorous texture and soft carbonation.

Pours a ruby amber with a small beige head that quickly fades. Aroma of candied malts, dark fruit and syrupy caramel. Taste is of sweetened malts, dates, prunes, plums and sticky caramel. Has a cotton candyish, bubllegum finish.
