Bottle courtesy of DrBayern.
Pours a lovely thickish burgandy color with a nice beige head.
Smell is candy sweet, peaty, earthy malt, and alcohol.
Taste is quite sweet, tart, light alcohol flavors show, smoky, and a bit cough syrupy. Unfortunately, this is just a style I’m not crazy about, I’m realizing. I just am not too fond of the peaty flavors, so take this into account when reading this.

355 ml. Dark brown with amber highlights. Medium-sized head that lasts well with some bits of soap lacing. Aroma of caramel, scorched toffee, sherry, and hints of iron. Flavor is rich caramel-toffee, with a lot of earthy-metallic twinges, touches of vanilla and oak, and an alcohol note that seems a tad much for only 8%. Palate is medium, smoothly carbonated and alcohol tingly on the tongue. Tastes more like a barley wine.

12oz - Aroma of sweet caramel and toffee, thick roasted malts, molasses and alcohol. Pours dark ruby red with a small head and good lacing. Flavor is very strong match to aroma. Palate is very sticky. A strong and tasty brew that isn’t for the faint of heart.

Very strong, sweet, and bitter rolled into one. My first style of this ale. Almost too strong for my liking. Maybe I can comeback and re-rate it.

(Rating #1234)

My eighth rating of 2nd Belgian Beer Club shindig. Thanks Lee. Pours brown amber with an off white head. The nose was sweet and malty. Taste wise this was robust malty and overall nice, could have packed a little more punch but very good.

thanks to mystery swap 2. Bottle 12oz poured a deep coppery orange red, fizzy tan head.Nose was sweet sour malts. Lots of dark fruits and touch of smoke. Wow, taste is same as nose, reminds me of a barley wine, I don’t have much past tasting of scotch ales. Big alcohol in this.

Courtesy elmatador. Poured a copperish brown color with a light tan head. It had big aroma of dark malts, caramel, and raisins. Has a big flavor of dark malts, caramel, raisins, and molasses. This has a lot of flavors that blended together nicely. It had big flavor with a medium body that finished of sweet caramel and toffee. A really good scotch ale. Thanks again James.
