| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 22, 2007 12oz bottle from TURDFERGUSON. Aroma: Lots of rich caramel, dried fruit, toffee, vanilla, and some light chocolate and smoke. Appearance: Deep reddish brown in color. Light beige head was full and foamy with good retention. Great lacing. Flavor: Rich bready maltiness that has a nice sweetness to it. Caramel, toasted nuts, raisins, chocolate, coffee, and a trace of peaty smoke. Alcohol peeks out as it warms. Palate: Medium-full bodied and creamy. Moderate carbonation. Light alcohol warming in back of mouth. Overall: I love this style, and this one hit alot of the things that I like. Rich caramel, light smoke, and some pleasant alcohol warmth. Good stuff. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 17, 2007 12 oz. bottle, notched freshness date along the right side of label, sampled in a snifter.
Poured a caramel candy brown, frothy tan head, settled into a thin creamy lacing, fair amount of laced sticking, a nice looking Wee Heavy.
An estery alcohol nose of raisins and figs, caramel toffee, cocoa, caramelized sugar, traces of floral, citric hops.
Velvety smooth medium body, moderate carbonation, cocoa and lightly roasted caramel malts, soft graininess, raisin and sweet fig fruitiness that meshes with the alcohol, a low grade warmth in the palate, mild citric hoppiness, easy sipping drinkability, overall, very nice.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 17, 2007 Bottle. Slightly cloudy, amber colored, looks very similar to a barleywine. Small head. Aroma is very sweet with strong raisin smells and a hint of pine. A lot of booze on the aroma. The flavor’s a mixture of heavy fruits, caramel, and a ton of alcohol. Especially with the harsh finish and alcoholic smell, I would have guessed this had a lot more alcohol in it than it does. People seem to love this beer, but I sure didn’t...maybe Scotch Ale just isn’t my style, although this tasted quite a lot like a unbalanced barleywine. Perhaps better in the winter. Poured dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid smooth malty, caramel and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body. Heavy balanced bittersweet flavor with a medium smooth bittersweet finish of long duration. Solid standout brew. bethmatt0421 (319), Covington, Kentucky, USA

Flavor is the same really, salty, alcohol. "Scottish", says it all. Its a spring brew, but I think it would make a great winter warmer, or spring thaw. whatever.
