The Duck-Rabbit Wee Heavy Scotch Style Ale

I used to dislike the wee heavy style but now appreciate the topsy turvy malt feel with a slight salty bitter touch swimming in sugar and biscuits. The alcohol burns perfectly compared to other versions I’ve had where it was kind of wack. These guys seem to know how to craft them.

Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Has some carbonation, and has a thick rich tastes of barley, oak, brown sugar, nuts, caramel, and scotch. Finished with a strong sweet taste, along with the alcohol.

bottle from ucusty...you say mahogany, i say deep reddish brown color. aromas like crazy...sweet malts, wet oak wood, pecans and black pepper. smooth and rich bodied. there’s a slight sourness in it like red verjus (prolly from the wood?) and flavors of toffee and yeast. nice sipper for after dinner especially as the beer gets to nearly room temp...

Bottle sampled with Mad_indian, thanks to DrBayern for sending this to me. Pours Mahogany with a beige head. Aroma of Caramel, slight roast, and peat. The flavor is smooth, dark fruit, caramel, and the alcohol warms on the way down.

Bottle sampled with stegosaurus, care of drbayern trade. Mahogany pour with off white tan head. Caramel aroma. A thin taste of sweet malt that finishes slightly bitter. An alcohol presence is detected. Not blended the way I like but good.

Poured dark red almost brown with creamy off white head. Aroma of caramel, sweet malt, and citrus. Taste was of sweet malt with fruit hints throughout. Had a little kick in the finish.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle via trade with Frumpy. Pours a dark caramel amber with a thin beige head that quickly dissolves to a fine film and ring. Aroma is complex with scents of ripe banana fruit, sweet caramel, peat and sweet taffy. Taste is medium to heavy body, very light carbonation with a peat flavor that causes a dry sensation on the tongue. Finish is semi sweet with a hard sugar candy flavor. The finish also has a dryness that even makes you thirsty for another glass. A very interesting scotch ale.

Thanks to dad for this. Body is a nice amber/brown color, with a thin off white head. Aroma is very malty, with dried fruit, caramel, and a light chocolate in the background. Taste is very fruity, dried cherries, dried cranberries, alcohol, toffee, caramel. Nice Scotch ale, almost like a lowkey Barleywine.
