Thanks to The_Epeeist for the bottle.Clear red-copper color with a medium head. Fair lacing. Aroma is earthy-peat like, with raisins and toffee. Taste was very fruity, cherries mostly, with a slight alcohol warmth. Full body. Sticky-thick texture. Sweet finish. Was a little sweet overall. But nice.

Poured mostly headless... only wisps & a halo above a reddish-mahogany body. Aroma finds lush, fruity malts, apples & cherry with heavy alcohol and a peaty smokiness. A little hot, but most of the elements of the aroma find their way into the flavor, only a little on the timid side. Regardless, this was pretty darn good.

<font size=-4>Big thanks to <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/View-User-14352.htm&g for a bottle of this (the wife thanks ye, too ;)</font>

Bottle: Pours a rich ruby amber color with a beige head. Strong nose of malt, dark fruits, raison, and hops. Taste is rich with sugary notes, toffee, malt, caramel, and a hop bitternesss in the tail. The alcohol presence warms a bit in the trailer. Good scotch ale. Thanks to IndianaRed for sharing. <P>Re-rate on 8/10/08: Seems more complex in the blend of sweetness, malt, candied fruit, toffee, and overall a subtle hint of nuts. Some vinous qualities. Very enjoyable to sip on and warms quite well. Oringinal rating 8/4/8/4/15.... New rating 8/4/9/4/16

Bottle: Pours a dark bourbon color with a tan head and light lacing. The nose is hearty and strong with some raisin, plum, lots of dark caramelly malts along with quite a bit of hops. Seems near a barleywine for me. The flavor is rich and thick, lots of malts and underattenuation going on but the hop bitterness is there to back it up. Prunes, fig, raisin and brown sugar in the finish. Nice thick hearty ale. Thanks IndianaRed for sharing this one.

Thanks to hopdog. Pours a translucent ruby amber with a smaller off white head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, toffee, some oxidation, sweeter end of the Scotch Ale style. Flavor of dark fruits, light hop bitterness, toffee, nuts, sweet malts, hints of alcohol.
