| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 22, 2007 12 oz bottle. Clear ruby brown with a tan head. Leaves some at the edges. Nose is quite fruity with dates, honeydew and faint smokiness. A different sweetness than other scotches I’ve tried. Melon barleywine? Grass hops enter to keep from cloying. Some toffee remains. Medium body and light carb make for nice sipping. GG (1664), NorCal, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 20, 2007 NorCal tasting Jan 07 - My first try at a Duck-Rabbit beer and what an impression. This was one seriously intense beer. An aroma of toffee, raisins, dark fruit, maple syrup, and a little boozy. Appearance was a deep brown/reddish color, hazy with a small head. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, slightly sticky but still excellent. Flavors were nutty, dark fruits, spicy, woody, earthy, a little smoky and just incredibly complex. This rates very high with me. Thanks so very much to JCB for sending!!! jeffdog22 (23), lakeland, Florida, USA

The aroma is very sweet with spicy notes - especially cinnamon. The flavor is extremely sweet and with the alcohol biting in the throat, but also with notes of wood, cloves, and cinnamon. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 6, 2007 Updated: May 6, 2007Pours a menacing blood red, totally clear and appealing looking, with a thin tan head, mostly diminishing, but what’s left sticks around for the duration. Monstrous peat is foremost in the aroma, paired with taffy, dried apricot, cinnamon raisins, smoke and a hint of new oak, all becoming more apparent as this libation draws nearer room temperature. Peat aroma in this is outstanding, very straightforward and bracing. I doubt many unseasoned beer drinkers would enjoy, let alone appreciate these nuances. Flavor is just as heavy with the peat notes and adds signifigantly more smoke to this foray into a style I always find intriguing. I have yet to have two scotch ales that seemed remotely similar. The mouthfeel brings with it nice body, though thin, but unnecessary carbonation that seems to hinder the expression of subtle flavor. Palate otherwise is relatively pleasant. The finish negates that aspect with a long and somewhat dry peat blast, lingering smoke and pleasant fruity hops. Very nice, different indeed. Another great beer from this outstanding brewery. I love Duck Rabbit, I hope they have a long and successful future amongst so much worthy competition. Dubbercody (214), Vancouver, Washington, USA
