Got this in a trade. A tasty beer, but far from style. Super malty sweet and slight alcohol warmth, but not near enough smokiness. The smoke appears as a faint reminder of the style but nothing more.

Bottle courtesy of Durhambeer! Bob rocks! This stuff is pushing barley wine territory pretty hard, and that rules. Pours a nice deep red with a nice head. with some good lacing. The aroma is a little salty with some alcohol caramel and cherry, nice big nose on this one. The flavor has port tones with plenty of alcohol, some cherry and other fruitiness, with some caramel. This tastes pretty gosh darned awesome.

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ home.
[ Trade by GAManiac ]. Clear medium red amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, caramel, nutty, spicy, light woody, licorice and dark berry sweet. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily and sticky, carbonation is soft, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20090603]

12 oz bottle courtesy of a GAManiac trade. Thanks, Grant! Pours a rusty brown, pretty hazy with small offwhite head that laces somewhat. Aromas throw good caramel malts, vanilla, peaty malts, a nice sweetness that I love in a Wee Heavy. Initial is sweet, a bit bitter up front with, caramel and peat, decent vanilla. A bit of dark fruit, faint coffee, and a decent bitterness in the finish. A touch toffee and cakey, but fairly balanced. Good body, fairly full, with dark fruits coming on pretty strong and dominant, caramel and peaty malt and vanilla, and fair bitterness to balance but fairly sweet overall. Pretty good.

Bottle from GAManiac. Thanks, Grant! Pours a beautiful ruby red with a nice subtle head of off-white. Aroma is a bready raisin with yeast toast in the background. Subtle hints of plumb and raisin in there as well. Flavor is a bombastic mess of raisin past its due date, tart and confused red wine biscuit, and a slightly rotted dark fruit blend. Hard to stomach. Average mouthfeel. This one weighs toooooo much.

On tap at Taco Mac. Found out about this place while I was on a 3-day business trip in Atlanta and decided to go on a quest to drink 13 beers to earn a "free" shirt- this one started things off. Pours clear dark reddish-brown with a small beige head. Big boozy nose of caramel malt and cherry. Tastes the same but slightly tangy. Nice full mouthfeel with a sweet malty finish.

Poured a deep amber. Sweet, boozey nose. Loads of flavor, sweet malts, alcohol, figs, slight smoke. Warming. Good full mouthfeel. Great beer.
