Feb 9, 2009 Bottle thanks to TURDFERGUSON, bottle date 7/08. Hazy brown-red-orange with a thin light tan head that leaves spottyy lacing. Aroma is caramel, alcohol. Taste is caramel, very sweet, some chocolate, peated malt, light alcohol warmth.

Feb 2, 2009 From bottle courtesy of dpjuart. Great aroma. Tons of licorice and brown sugar and light molasses. Toffee and unfermented wort sugar tang. Light woody hops and a bit of alcohol. Rich and delicious. Dark copper amber clear with foamy off-white head. Medium heavy body, not quite oily. Medium carbonation. Rich and sweet with tons of caramel, toffee, and licorice. Brown sugar, Twizzlers. Light vanilla, oak. Mild warming. This is really tasty.

Jan 28, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazyreddish brown color with a small beige head that disappears quickly. The aroma is sweet caramel malt, ripe fruits, and scotch. The flavor is rich caramel malts, a touch of chocolate, ripe dark fruits, vanilla,and a hint of smoke. The mouthfeel is medium-full and goes down smoothly. The alcohol is not readily apparent, but comes out a bit when it warms in the form of scotch whiskey. I have had this numerous times without rating and find that this is much better with a year on it.

Jan 27, 2009 12oz bottle. Thick chestnut brown color. Very sweet, shows it’s alcohol. Dark and sticky. Caramel malt, lots of its, very thick and sugary. Pungently woody and sour, reminiscent of some Belgian Scottish Ales. OK.

Jan 18, 2009 Smell is malts, caramel, alcohol, brown sugar, and breadlike. Look is clear, amber to red in color with a thin head that is beige colored. Taste is sweet, alcohol, caramel, malts, sugar, and bread. Good.

Jan 17, 2009 Updated: Jan 24, 2009Fairly translucent in appearance. Not the best looking scotch ale, but I have an aversion to scotch ales. Large presence of alcohol. There is a sweet aroma that comes through in the aroma, but it is ok. Nice creamy and malty beer, but the alcohol comes through like crazy. The beer has a nice smooth palate, but as I said the alcohol makes a huge statement. The malts are nice, but I have had better scotch ales. Overall, a very alcoholic, but sweet scoth ale. This one misses out on the smoke, or ash type flavor that generally accompanies scotch ales.

Dec 19, 2008 Poured from a 12-oz bottle a reddish-copper color with a small white head. Aroma of malt sweetness and caramel. The taste starts off really sweet with an array of fruit taste coming through. Also some caramel notes are apparent and alcohol in noticeable in the beer.
