| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2009 A decent tasting, but not over-strong Scotch ale. 12 oz bottle (Hawthorne’s in Philly, I think) pours a dark and murky brown, nice lacing residuals from a thick tan head. Hot aromas of alcohol, sweaty gym socks, oak, caramel, and a hint of the medicinal. Don’t breath too deep or you’re nose will want to sneeze. Taste is of bourbon, carmalized malt, oak, and fresh baked raisin bread. Very dry finish. A good sipper. Butters (1651), Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Near clear amber brown with fair tan soapy head. Nose of sweet berries and raisins carries over in the flavor, but with a lot of biscuit, toast, hazelnut, and leather. Okay for style I suppose, but just didn’t blow me away or anything. hershiser2 (914), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 13, 2009 Deep ruby amber color with white head. Aroma is of deep malt with just a hint of dirty socks. Flavor is of very strong malt with just a hint of roastiness. Full bodied and rich mouthfeel that coats the tongue. Suitable for sipping by the fire, but not so heavy that you can’t get up for another. Arayaga2 (976), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Taste is initially a bit sour, with worty caramel flavors thereafter. Warming alcohol enters at the finish. Not super-impressed. $2.5/12oz radagast83 (1314), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 8, 2009 Wee Heavy is not my most favorite style, but when I was presented this beer (through a mishap where I was supposed to get their coffee porter) I was intrigued. It wasn’t bad! The pour was a dark amber with a small light-tan head. Aroma is malts, nuts, caramel. Flavor is malts, nutty and caramel. Alcohol stands out, which might be my only downside to the entire experience. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA
