Commercial Description:
This Berliner Weiss bier has a nice acidic tartness that is naturally produced by a technique called "sour-mashing". It’s a light, refreshing German Wheat Ale that is served straight, or with a splash of Raspberry or Woodruff syrup in it - let your server know if you’d like the syrup in it! This beer is based upon a recipe by our friends Marc and Lars who won the Topsfield Fair Homebrew Competition with it. 4IBU

Cask (gravity) @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.
Hazy medium yellow color with virtually none head. Aroma is moderate wheat, citrus - lemon, tart sour, toffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate acidic - vinegar with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20090804]

Cask Stillage at the GBBF, Earls Court 04/08/2009 Fruity aroma. Golden coloured hazy in appearance and fruity with a little dryness in a crisp and yeasty malt finish.

Pouring at the Night of the Funk event in Boston. Pours a hazy milky yellow. Light mustard aromas give way to crisp lemon in the mouth. Really tasty and very drinkable. I wish more brewers would make Berliners as it’s the perfect style for just about anything.

Tap at Night of the Funk. A disappointing berliner weisse. The aroma was extremely lacking, smelling significantly more like a shitty American light lager than the traditional German style it was supposed to be impersonating. The flavor is a bit better, with the requisite wheaty tartness, but there was a milky/lactose note that did not fit. Very unimpressive; they need to go back to the drawing board with this one.

Sampled at Night of the Funk 2009:Pours a hazy/cloudy yellow with a thick white head (retains well). Mild wheaty and grainy aroma- not much lactic character but it’s nice and soft. Light body with a soft crisp wheaty back and some apparent lactic tartness. A simple and easy going Berliner Weisse- well done.

(Draught) Pours a cloudy pale straw body with a small egg-white head. Aroma of wheat, lemon, cereal, and subtle grapefruit peel. Flavor of lemon, wheat, nuts, baked apple, wood, earth, and minerals.

A Mes rate. Gravicask at GBBF.
Hazy yellow with a thin white head. A straight forward but enjoyable Berlinner Weiss. Lemon sourness on top and a good chewy malt base. You know the drill, I won’t rattle on. Good beer.

At GBBF 2009. Cloudy pale gold, no head. Very cereally on aroma. Slightly biting. Decent, really interesting. Good cereal in mouth and good lemon finish
