ChainGangGuy (1444), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA May 11, 2008 Appearance: Pours a hazy, pale orange body with no real head beyond a few scant bubbles.
Smell: Very citricy aroma full of juicy grapefruit rinds, lemon peel, and meadow flowers backed by a thin measure of candied maltiness.
Taste: Dry maltiness with a tiny hint of biscuit. A sharp, zesty, almost rauncy citric kick of citrusy hops. A touch of grass and flowers. Medium-high bitterness shines through as there’s really not much at all in the way of malts. Acidic, bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: My hope is that you’re ready for plenty of hop bitterness.
nightrider (221), encinitas, California, USA Jul 12, 2008 Pour from a bottle while visiting Rhode Island. Orange golden color with a nice white head. Citrus and hops in your nose. Medium body with low carbonation. Bitter hops is dominant with a long dry finish. Minimal sweetness or malt character. A bit one dimensional, but OK. MaltOMeal (222), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Jun 30, 2008 12oz bottle thanks to goryshkewych. Pours a cloudy amber with a thin off-white head. Nose is sweet citrus and floral hops. Very nice aroma. taste is of grapefruit rind. Mouthfeel is medium, but a bit watery. it is very bitter. Truly a super hop bomb. Very impressive hops, but a tad unbalanced. Liked it though. jimhilt (1359), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Jun 26, 2008 Pours a four finger white head that fades slowly to a thin layer, leaving a good lace lace. Almost clear pale amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Hoppy nose. Flavor is hops and more hops any other flavors are buried. Lingering bitter finish that lasts forever. $1.85 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma. porterhouse (887), Alna, Maine, USA Jun 6, 2008 (Bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/westborough/julio’s-liquors/461.htm target=blank>Julio’s Liquors) Pours hazy light apricot amber with three fingers of biege head. Aroma is strongly hoppy - grapefruit rind. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth, medium-light. Lots of sloppy, patchy lacing. Flavor is quite hoppy - grapefruit and medium-heavy bitterness in the fore and overlaying some lighter caramel/vanilla malt. Some light floral sweetness. Grapefruit continues to lightly sting the tongue as it washes through with a fairly strong bitter finish. Lingering bitter aftertaste. A hop bomb for sure, good but perhaps just a bit too much. blankboy (2489), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 5, 2008 My bottle (12oz) shared withHogTownHarry -- courtesy of Thaichile. Pours a murky golden-orange with some sediment and a large frothy white head. Aroma of lots of hops -- Floral first, then citrus, then resiny backed sweet malt and some mild spices. Flavour: Starts mild with fruit and sweet malt and then the hops kick in halfway and there’s a big bitter finish. Medium bodied. A great IPA, I want more!
