Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
Changed from 3.6% to 3.8% in 2004.
This fine, golden coloured beer has a full flavour that lingers pleasantly on the palate. With a good bitter-sweet balance this beer has a robust hop character described as citrus and spicy. It’s a refreshing and very satisfying pint – noted for the aroma of its Fuggles and dry hopping strain Golding to add to its characteristic Theakston aroma.

Cask. Aroma is wood and flowery hops along with some slight sourness to it. Flavour is sweetish sour redberries along with some wooden dryness. Long berryish aftertaste along with some sour apples.

On tap, creamy brown pour, small cream head. Drink is surprisingly watery, some bitter flavour but nothing to excite you. Dull.

(Draught in Douglas on 2008-07-05) Pale amber. Clear. Medium-sized dense white head. Light malty nose. Light to medium palate with some carbonation. Some malts and lightly bitterness in taste. Watery.

Cask at the Peacock, Nottingham. This is a copper coloured bitter with a very thin, watery consistency. Both the aroma and flavour are dominated by bready, grainy malt without much bitterness. I found it rather boring.

Cask (Penny Black, Bicester)
Rich brown, sparkler head. Not lacking in subtlety, but alas lacking in sophistication. Punchy raw maltiness, a bit flat and oxidised. Probably old. Should rerate.
