Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
Changed from 3.6% to 3.8% in 2004.
This fine, golden coloured beer has a full flavour that lingers pleasantly on the palate. With a good bitter-sweet balance this beer has a robust hop character described as citrus and spicy. It’s a refreshing and very satisfying pint – noted for the aroma of its Fuggles and dry hopping strain Golding to add to its characteristic Theakston aroma.

Very bland. Made not to harm and very boring. Nothing technically wrong but just dull.

Aroma is balanced and maybe a bit minimal, but only goodness going on. Taste is very sessionable balanced goodness.

Who will know that I would like a beer like a BItter?. Well, before it got all settled, I tried and was a little really bitter, but after it was refreshing, and cold enough for being a good one.

A really nice bitter. I have some very happy memories of this stuff. My personal experience is that the bottles taste a lot better than cask. Great shame that it’s been made virtually extinct by Theakston’s Cool Cask which is a very average ale. I can’t find the bottles on anymore anymore :( and only know one pub with it on tap. I guess it’s not so popular because of it’s low alcohol content. Sometimes it’s good just to have a great tasting beer. It doesn’t have to always be about getting drunk quick. Too often breweries are replacing great light beers with super strength crap.

[Cask at GBBF 2004] An orange beer with white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of honey, while the flavor is fruity combined with honey and a bitter end, but the body is thin.

Nitrokegged in the Waterhead hotel, Ambleside. If it had any beerlike aroma it was masked by the nitro and the cold serving temperature. Flavour inoffensive, but I should have gone for wine.
