Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - Summer.

Lightfoot Bitter was created as a tribute to Lightfoot Brewery, Masham which we acquired in 1919. The label and pump depict the Lightfoot Brewery's celebrated cricket team – and while this beer definitely won't give you the runs, it will score highly on the tastebuds.
This is a very pale, straw coloured ale, that uses a special malt to produce a pronounced ‘peach-like’ element to the aroma and palate, which is complemented by a floral hop character.
Brewed using a blend of traditional Fuggle, Golding and Bramling Cross hops.

Only ratings of the cask version should be entered here. The bottled version has a separate entry.

Cask-conditioned at the Bon Accord, Glasgow 1/07/09. Golden in colour with a billowy white head. Faint grassy hop and sweet malt aroma. Flavour of sweet malts with a hint of citrus and moderately bitter finish. Boring.

A Mes rate. Cask at the Market Porter. A hazy mid gold with a thin white head. The rest of my notes say standard golden bitter"". A bit thin on the ground I know so here are my notes from the bottle. It’s probably the same, really, do you care? Grassy and floral with some faint wheaty notes, pale malt and some fruity hops in the finish. Dull.

Hazy dark blond ale. Sharp zesty aroma. Flavour is bitter but the sharp edge makes it very refreshing. Sweeter notes of banana and lemon are present.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Pale gold with a hoppy aroma. Round, fruity taste, slightly citric. Mid to low bitterness. A bit thin. A man at the next table was smoking a cigarette. Today, June 30th, 2007, is the last day he will be allowed to do this legally in the UK. 9.12.07 Bottle. Gold with a white head. Sweet floral hop aroma. Malt in the taste, a little citrus and a suggestion of almonds. Not much bitterness. Rating: 5,4,6,3,10 : 2.8

Cask. Old review from August last year. Light gold, amber. No head. Sweetish, slightly hoppy nose. Mouth is sweet malt, but balanced, but nothing pretty defining. Was looking forward to something amazing here. It was good, and interesting, but not characteristic of anything.
