A nice change. Once you get used to the lack of bite of bitters, it’s very smooth. Caramel, roasted malt & chestnut tea taste. From Richmond Springs, Bristol

Cask (Peterborough Beer Festival 2004) Black, thin head. Stonking mild, one of the best of the day. Very full-bodied, rich and sweet. Enough hops to provide some interest too, but on the whole just a velvety mellow elixir.

Cask@GBBF2009. Deep ambery brown colour, small brown head. Aroma is chocolate, nuts, roasted malts and mild coffeeish notes. Flavour is the same along with caramel, dark fruits and some mild notes of syrup.

Light coffee taste mixed with a smooth palate. A refreshing mild on a warm spring day.

[Cask conditioned] Spicy aroma, with smoked notes and notes of cayenne pepper. The flavour is also quite peppery. Unfortunately it finishes quite thin. Rating 7-4-5-3-13=3,2 Re-rate: [Cask conditioned] Very creamy head. Chocolate aroma. Nice roasty and dry flavour. Reminds me of a good Irish stout.

Cask, The Station, Habrough. Deep ruby red, almost black. Good off white head and moderate fine condition. Quite complex aromas of fruity berries, chocolate and some toast. Generous blackberry and chocolate in the mouth and a powdery chocolate and slightly woody finish.

Milds are really not my favourite style among cask ales - most of them are, well, too mild... However, this one is probably about as good as a mild can get.
