RileyOBaba (33), , Ohio, USA Jun 26, 2008 Hard to imagine a better setting for this one....a cask pint in front of a real fire in a pub in an English village in the twilight after a day’s walking the countryside....immaculate pint in every way....
motelpogo (4360), Plzen, Czech Republic Jan 5, 2009 rbesg07, on cask at the barony, edinburgh. browny red with a nutty aroma, hints of red berries, sultanas, toffee and a good hit of bitterness Travlr (427), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jan 3, 2009 Reddish brown color, thin white head. Aroma of pine and nuts. Flavors of malt with some dark fruit in the background. A notch above the bottled version. AsaNewt (113), blackpool, Lancashire, England Dec 6, 2008 Its funny how sometimes you are so busy hunting obscure beers you forget how good the obvious ones are! This is a fantastic looking pint. nose is fruity yet not overpowering. Flavour is xmas pudding without too much sweetness. feel is smooth and creamy. Does much get better than this? AND its a great session beer. wyzzywyz22 (499), Wirral, Merseyside, England Dec 5, 2008 Cask, Royal Oak, Great Ayton, N.Yorks.
A great get out of jail card this. Deep dark reddy brown with a smallish, lingering tan head. Fruity, roasted malt aroma. Toasty malts, dark choc, christmas cakey flavour. Quite rich. Had 6 pints of this in a few hours on top of 6 other misc pints + a few dark rums and I think the Old P was a big contributing factor to one of the worst morning afters of 08 !!
MesandSim (4724), Highgate, Greater London, England Sep 1, 2008 A Mes rate: cask at Baker St JDW.A lovely rich mahogany brown colour with a thin beige film on top. Both the aroma and flavour are that of sour off fruit. Clearly on the turn but I would expect nothing more from this disgraceful effort of a JDW pub.
