| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 4, 2008 Bottle from 2006.. Again, I’ll agree to the interesting color. I didn’t get near the head (retention) as in the picture (then again, it came from the bottle). Description says ’banana notes’, while there is a bit of subtly in the fruit, I wouldn’t describe it as banana. Could use a bit more body. malty/fruity. (Dried fruit aroma and flavor.) It has just a hint of roastiness in the finish. AndrewC (70), Canterbury, Kent, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 4, 2008 It had an aroma of a musty, damp castle room. Nice flavours of rum, raisin and vanilla with a hint of smoke. The palate was vinous. The finish was of an oak-like, alcoholic malt. Not my kind of thing but nice none the less. Interesting all round taste and well worth having again. Did not notice much fruityness, but a good beer nontheless. dwaggs2 (549), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a thin head. Leaves no lacing on the glass. There is a faint aroma of sweet and banana. Taste is not a lot. Thought this beer would be a lot better. Decent at best. jrmac (213), USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Aug 26, 2008 Almost black pour with a thin head. Not much on the nose but a faint sweet malt aroma. Taste is off to me, may be a bad bottle. Almost a soapy taste. EFC1878 (292), Manchester, Greater Manchester, England

Very similar to the excellent cask, but not quite up there. Same fuggles aroma, excellent body-finish and beautiful to the eye. Just better on tap, that’s all. michael-pollack (2681), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 10, 2008 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, vanilla, roasting, caramel, and a hint of fruit. Chestnut brown in color with a small off-white head that disappeared instantly. Clear. Not sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of alcohol, smoke, licorice, and caramel. Light to medium body. Thin, dry texture. Average carbonation. Alcohol, water, and smoke finish is dry. flatmatt (224), Northville, Michigan, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 8, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a small off-white head that disappears quickly. Aromas of caramel, dark fruit, yeasty banana, apple. Flavor is dark fruit, tart apple, caramel, but very muted. Maybe a touch of hops in the finish. Very watery. The aftertaste it leaves is much stronger than the beer itself. Not sure if this is an old or bad bottle or if it’s meant to be like this, but I’m left wondering where the flavor is.
