Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Its initial sweetness is, apparently, "of roasted and vinous notes with a subtle bitter aftertaste". Strong fruitiness, often with "banana notes" standing out, is derived from Old Peculier’s fermentation process.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, vanilla, roasting, caramel, and a hint of fruit. Chestnut brown in color with a small off-white head that disappeared instantly. Clear. Not sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of alcohol, smoke, licorice, and caramel. Light to medium body. Thin, dry texture. Average carbonation. Alcohol, water, and smoke finish is dry.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a small off-white head that disappears quickly. Aromas of caramel, dark fruit, yeasty banana, apple. Flavor is dark fruit, tart apple, caramel, but very muted. Maybe a touch of hops in the finish. Very watery. The aftertaste it leaves is much stronger than the beer itself. Not sure if this is an old or bad bottle or if it’s meant to be like this, but I’m left wondering where the flavor is.

Tangy fruity rich malt aroma. Very dark brown appearance with a hint of red. Toasted malt at the start and a astringent hop kick to finish but a slightly reedy palate. Slight taste of horse. elements of whiskey and slightly reminiscent of porter, but definitely a northern ale all the way. Not my favourite, but would make a good after-dinner beer.

12oz - Dark brown liquid under light tan head. Wood on nose, some hops too. Not much on the palate really, leathery notes. A little like a bock but watery. I hoped for more. Tried it again a few days later. I think the first bottle was off, as one of the later ones was as well. Much more substantial and engaging. Moved from 2.8 to 3.4 here.

[Archive] Bubbly, light tan foam over reddish, dark beer. Little aroma but full flavour. Over-carbonized but solid malts and mouth filling. Barleywine light.

Dark, thick pour with lots of carbonation and a small head. Smell is excellent, very rich belgian-like strong aroma of malt, sweetness, alcohol and bananas/ Taste is also good, stout like maltiness, nice bitter finish. Very nice.

Bottle - Poured a clear brown in color with a small light tan head. Aroma was quite fruity with lots of banana and some roasty malt. Flavor is slightly venous with small sourness and quite strong "fruity note" (banana, as described). Finished with a strongly malty flavor, slight sourness, banana and slight astringent/bitter at the end. Interesting...

This was the colour of coke with an off white gradually disappearing head. Smelt of malt and hops with a hint of chocolate. Very smooth with a nice subtle flavour.
